Primary consumers are animals which are the first to consume primary producers i.e., plants. Large mammals like the animals in this graphic regulate ecosystem functions and in-turn climate by their ability to move travel far and wide. 1/3

In the process they disperse seeds, promote plant growth by being nature's gardeners and aiding in maintaining nutrient cycles by breaking down complex compounds such as carbohydrates and protein which in-turn is released back into the nutrient cycles or act as natural fertiliser
