in the vid, i toggle rendering the background sprite,
since it takes up the entire screen, it increases our cpu overhead enough to show in task manager, and quite a lot too!

#c 1/2:
wanted to try c default struct initializers
changed msvc to /std:c 20
launched program, it didnt load the level like usual
Player was at {0,0} top-left, and no level. Tried command line
">load test.lvl"
"level loaded!" but no level lmao.
Heres what changed: ...
1/2
2/2
buffer[ci] = string[ci ]; //in string_delimit (string buff, string str, char d)
'ci' is now iterating before setting buffer, and so now (buffer[0] = string[1]). and our strings all start with '/0'
lmao
anyway just move ci below to fix
thanks msvc lololol
to level up my skillz i started making a 2d software rendered engine in c
goal is to program as much as i can muster by hand: rendering, assets, entitites, editor etc
heres an example of a number of those features in the concept stage
My talk at @BetterSoftwareC is now live on YouTube! I had the privilege of demoing ARC, our new Immediate Mode UI library written in C, followed by a Q&A.
Presenting our work in front of some of the world’s best programmers was a massive honor, and the feedback has been incredibly inspiring, thank you all!
ARC is a team effort, and I’m grateful to work with such a skilled programmers on this project. We’re confident ARC is something special, and we’re just getting started.
Get ready for code snippets, and some seriously exciting demos in the near future. Watch the talk below, and stay tuned for more!
