If you believe this one I got some oceanfront property on Mars to sell you

The Martians will decide how they are ruled. I recommend direct, rather than representative, democracy. Uncrewed Starships landing on Mars in ~2 years, perhaps with crewed versions passing near Mars, and crewed Starships heading there in ~4 years are all possible.

Kevin O’Leary being against this legislation is precisely the reason this legislation needs to exist in the first place

My friend was in a meeting with Eric Schmidt and he could see over his shoulder and Eric spent the whole meeting buying RAM for his home computer on Amazon

In a Stanford talk posted today, Eric Schmidt says the reason why Google is losing to @OpenAI and other startups is because Google only has people coming in 1 day per week šŸ‘€

Look, it's a company run by 2 guys who were basically raised by venture capitalists. I don't know what everybody expected them to be like, if not this.

Look at this lie they made up about his views!

Long day at Twitter HQ with eng team Two significant problems mostly addressed: 1. Fanout service for Following feed was getting overloaded when I tweeted, resulting in up to 95% of my tweets not getting delivered at all. Following is now pulling from search (aka Earlybird). When Fanout crashed, it would also destroy anyone else’s tweets in queue. 2. Recommendation algorithm was using absolute block count, rather than percentile block count, causing accounts with many followers to be dumped, even if blocks were only 0.1% of followers. Also, it’s trivial to bot spam accounts with blocks.

You guys I finally got my first Roman statue guy reply!!!
But surely you can see that by defining a metric much more narrowly than what normal people would expect that metric to represent, you’re misleading customers?

0% chance Elon pulls off decommissioning both SMF and ATL by end of Q1. PDX doesn’t even have a hadoop cluster right now. It also means they have to break all their leases. It also means PDX will be a single point of failure. But what do I know, I’m just a guy who turned up PDX.

NEW: Twitter is shutting down its data center in Sacramento and downsizing another in Atlanta by early Jan, likely as a cost saving measure. This means a huge amount of traffic will be shifted to its remaining data centers, which could result in increased instability.

The parameters of the debate were: feature freeze to totally refactor the entire codebase which will only take 6 months & 20 devs vs I need to launch Blue and live tweetview counters which will save the imperiled business after which I will seamlessly rewrite the whole stack.
I shan’t listen to the ā€œspaceā€, it it was pretty much ā€œtell me you’ve never worked on a large scale internet application without telling me you’ve never worked on a large scale internet applicationā€, right?
