From @calvinokello4 It’s time for @jumuiya to use its resources to develop its own energy infrastructure and security by building its own oil refinery. Time is now to stope being held hostage by the #HormuzStraight and the wars started by other people. Powerful reminder 🌍 Forests are natural water infrastructure, filtering, regulating, and sustaining the very systems we depend on daily. Yet we rarely factor this into planning and investment decisions. @FAOForestry

Absolutely! 🌱Climate resilience starts where communities protect what they know best. Indigenous knowledge is very central to sustainable wetland management 🌍
Sustainable wetland protection works best when communities lead. Traditional knowledge remains a powerful tool for biodiversity and climate resilience. #WorldWetlandsDay2026

Congratulations! Transforming the Kenya Meteorological Department into the Kenya Meteorological Service Authority is a strong step toward better climate services, stronger early warning systems, and climate-resilient development for the region. 🌍🌦️👏 #ClimateChange
President Ruto to Assent to Meteorology Bill Transforming Kenya Meteorological Department into Authority His Excellency the President Dr William Ruto has assent to the Meteorology Bill, paving the way for the transformation of the Kenya Meteorological Department into the Kenya Meteorological Service Authority (KMSA). The new law marks a significant milestone in strengthening Kenya’s weather and climate services by establishing an autonomous authority mandated to regulate, coordinate, and deliver meteorological services across the country. Once operational, the Kenya Meteorological Service Authority will enhance the provision of accurate and timely weather and climate information to support key sectors of the economy, including agriculture, aviation, water resource management, and disaster risk reduction. Environment and Climate Change Principal Secretary Dr Eng Festus K Ng'eno said the transition will also strengthen Kenya’s early warning systems and improve the country’s capacity to respond to climate-related hazards such as floods, droughts, and severe storms. The establishment of the Authority aligns Kenya with international best practices in meteorological governance and supports global initiatives such as the Early Warnings for All programme championed by the World Meteorological Organization. The new Authority will provide a stronger institutional framework for delivering reliable weather forecasts, climate data, and advisory services critical for safeguarding lives, protecting infrastructure, and supporting climate-resilient development. Stakeholders in the climate and environmental sectors have welcomed the move, noting that the new authority will enhance coordination of meteorological services and strengthen Kenya’s leadership in climate information services within the region. The transformation of the Kenya Meteorological Department into the Kenya Meteorological Service Authority is expected to modernize operations, improve service delivery, and expand partnerships to ensure weather and climate information reaches all Kenyans.

It is dangerous especially once consumers realize they were misled, trust in environmental claims declines. People may even begin to doubt legitimate sustainability initiatives. #Stopgreenwashing

When companies invest more in marketing sustainability than in actual environmental improvements, real climate solutions are delayed. In other words greenwashing erodes public trust, distorts markets, misdirects climate finance, and slows genuine progress toward sustainable dev’t

The European Union Deforestation Regulation will raise the cost of environmental violations. Exporters tied to deforestation risk losing access to EU markets. For East Africa, this is a clear ESG signal: sustainable land use and traceable supply chains are now essential.

What do you need to know about #EUDR according to @WorldResources What Is the EUDR? The EUDR is a landmark law that came into force in June 2023. Its goal is to ensure that certain products sold in or exported to the EU do not come from land that was deforested or degraded.👇

In my personal perspective, not every tree planting effort restores nature. Biodiversity must remain central to species selection if restoration is to deliver real ecological and social value. #Biodiversity #ESG
