Kalshi petitioned the federal government to crack down on offshore exchanges like Polymarket, its top rival, in a portion of a letter to the CFTC that flew under the radar. There's no indication the CFTC will listen to the request. sportico.com/business/sports…

As I've written before, the CFTC's ability to go after platforms that are purportedly offshore is unclear, though it has pursued legal action against individual bettors this year.

Netflix is cautiously optimistic about the launch of its new soccer game—FIFA World Cup: Launch Edition—banking on how much its players will enjoy the gameplay as opposed to its visuals. My story, with @dan_bernstein_, at @Sportico: sportico.com/business/tech/2…

WSJ exclusive: the CFTC is set to propose rules on prediction markets today. Most sports contracts would be allowed, but not some micro-bets on player injuries or the first pitch in an MLB game. War bets will be a no-go zone. From my colleague @dgtokar wsj.com/finance/regulation/t…

Can add that this was rolled out to some users over the weekend.
SCOOP: Kalshi will start requiring users to fill out a form reflecting their employment in order to gain access to select prediction markets in an effort to combat potential insider trading. Sensitive betting markets related to issues such as company performance and national security, including the war in Iran, are expected to require employment disclosure. Kalshi won’t verify the employment information provided by users unless the company learns of suspicious activity. The increasing popularity of prediction markets like Kalshi and Polymarket has compounded pressure on them to address suspicious activity, with lawmakers, regulators and prosecutors raising concerns about insider trading. It's a straightforward pop-up form that asks for employment category and then a blank space to type in name of employer. No document uploads required at this time.

Funny thing to not be prohibited from the start
NEW: Kalshi now says it prohibits paid creators from calling into question the integrity or accuracy of an election, legal ruling or official determination in connection with an election. It follows Kalshi cracking down on paid affiliates who were spreading misinformation about California's election. Polymarket has not responded to questions about whether it is acting on paid affiliates amplifying election misinfo, nor if it has any rules against it.
