HUGE! This completely puts to lie the Trump admin’s repeated claims in court that the U.S. has no control over the people we had imprisoned without trial in El Salvador. El Salvador told the United Nations definitively that those people are being held under U.S. jurisdiction.
BREAKING: Documents filed in court today assert that officials from El Salvador told the United Nations that it "facilitated the use of the Salvadoran prison infrastructure" by the U.S. but that "the jurisdiction and legal responsibility for these persons lie exclusively with the" U.S.

Let’s be clear: This is illegal and unconstitutional. The American people had voted. The courts had ruled. The Electoral College had met and voted. The Governor in every state had certified the results and sent a legal slate of electors to the Congress to be counted. The Vice President has no constitutional authority to tell states to submit alternative slates of electors because his candidate lost. That is tyranny. Our institutions held on Jan 6 because Mike Pence refused to violate his oath to the Constitution. Trump picked JD Vance because Vance will do whatever Trump wants, including violating the Constitution. They are both far too dangerous to serve. It’s our duty to stop them.
Q. Would you have certified the 2020 election? JD Vance: No. “I would have asked the states to submit alternative slates of electors and ask the country to have a debate” Disqualifying

.@whignewtons do you use the article “the” with the acronym DOJ? Would you say “I enjoyed my time at the DOJ” or “I enjoyed my time at DOJ”? My memory is that it often doesn’t go with the article but not sure if I heard that from people who worked there and not general usage.

A young girl didn’t want to slaughter the goat she raised for 4H. The state senator who bought the goat at auction agreed to let it live out its days eating weeds. But sheriff’s deputies drove 500 miles to kill the goat and teach a 9-year-old a lesson. latimes.com/california/story…

Just a reminder that 147 different Republican members of Congress voted on January 6 to reject duly certified Biden electors from Arizona and Pennsylvania — even though there was no dueling slate of electors from either state and no viable evidence of fraud. This is on them, too.

I used to think it was so funny that some languages had a mandatory max width of 80, that lots of editors encourage line breaks at 80 characters because the punch cards allowed for 80 columns. In the future people will laugh at "split screen on a macbook" dictated my code's width

or our work codebase's docstrings and width are set at 118 because this is the width of Github's code window.

Also learned that the size of the punch card was originally dictated by the size of the US currency at the time so they could reuse treasury boxes.
