My closest encounter with the Queen was when she visited Manchester Cathedral last year. Leaving a Salford council meeting over the road, I saw a crowd and joined. Today I learnt the Palace specifically requested an LGBT choir performs that day #LDReporter

The news came in literally just as I was about to start my first rehearsal back with The Altrincham Garrick Show Choir tonight. Apparently this was one of her majesty's favourite songs, Cheek to cheek. I was lucky enough to meet and chat with her last year, RIP Queen Elizabeth II
