Many of these people don't realize that when you take a job as a doctor, you don't have full political speech especially if you show a bias. it's a massive risk to the hospital if you express things like "you won't help a X person cause they are bad" or saying things like "i'm glad X person died". ESPECIALLY when you are in the medical field.
a hospital will fire you and if they don't and someone EVER happens and you do something out of turn and out of procedure, the hospital could find itself liable for your bias. that's the reality of the situation.
you may not what Rep Fine is doing however civilly, that hospital could be sued into the ground and not exist if it doesn't fire these people.
With teachers, parents are more and more fine with opting out of schools if bias happens or completely moving all together. the more bias that shows, the more people will continue to pull their kids out of school or go somewhere else. So you gotta remove these teachers or those areas schools will collapse economically when the vast majority of people disagree.
Did you know that sitting members of Congress calling into employers and demanding that they fire people for speaking their mind is a crime?
Especially if they act in their official capacity, which is what representative Randy Fine is doing, as well as other members of Congress.
The First Amendment protects citizens from government retaliation for their speech, including political speech. This protection is relevant because a sitting member of Congress is a government official.
If the person works for a public entity, like a state university or government agency, the First Amendment provides strong protection against termination for political speech.
The public employee would likely have a strong case for unlawful retaliation.
If you work for a private company though, most likely, you can only sue the Congress person.
So if you have lost your job due to a member of the government, at any level, calling your employer because they disagree with what you say, you can sue both the Congress member and your former employer.
KNOW YOUR RIGHTS.
Happy Monday !
