For the last few years, I’ve been spending time with a man who claims to be God, and the group he has built around him. Who are they? What lead them to believe in this man? Is this just modern spirituality… or a cult? God Next Door // BBC Radio 4 // 21st July // 19:15

For today’s episode of The Story podcast from @TheTimes… I went on an adventure in Makerfield. It’s a story about how our online lives are shaping our real world, and how they could be shaping the most significant by-election in recent history.

This is somebody’s Dad, @TheWeekUK. Whatever you think of him, the crucifixion of Keir Starmer has become pretty grotesque.

Elon Musk has today updated the formula that decides if you see this tweet. Each tweet is scored. S=Σ (probability of reaction × value of reaction) A like = 0.5 points. A reply = 13.5. A full argument? 75 That’s why outrage travels faster than facts. thetimes.com/comment/columni…

Reform had a huge victory in Makerfield in the recent local elections, but Andy Burnham is seen in the constituency “as a separate brand from Labour” which helps voters connect with him more, says Times Radio’s Darryl Morris.

We see our home planet as a whole, lit up in spectacular blues and browns. A green aurora even lights up the atmosphere. That's us, together, watching as our astronauts make their journey to the Moon.

This is the Pale Blue Dot - the furthest image ever taken of Earth. ‘Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot’ - Carl Sagan.

It's so weird to me that people keep posting exchanges like this and thinking they come off well... Like, congrats, you were rude to a reporter politely asking to hear your thoughts? Is that really such an impressive dunk?

On autism: Neither me nor my daughter get anything for being autistic. No medication, no cash, no therapy. Just an answer to a question, which was quite helpful, and would have been more helpful for me earlier. It would have saved a lot of distress and bit of money in therapy.
