Why does VAR keep generating controversy… even when it gets the decision right? 👀
VAR solves many doubts on the pitch, but off it, it still sparks plenty of debate — and that’s no coincidence.
The truth is that VAR doesn’t eliminate interpretation. Not every situation has a completely objective decision. In many cases, the referee’s judgment is still involved, and VAR serves as support — but the final decision remains a human one 🔥
On top of that, different camera angles can completely change the perception of an incident. What seems obvious to one fan may not appear so clear to someone analyzing it using technical criteria.
And there’s another important factor that can’t be ignored: emotion. When it involves our team, everything tends to feel more controversial, more unfair, or more questionable 🫣
At the end of the day, VAR’s goal isn’t to eliminate debate in football, but rather to reduce clear errors and make decisions fairer within the game.
Even so, the way each person interprets what they see can vary greatly — and that keeps the discussion alive 🙌
