Replying to @dunkindonuts
@dunkindonuts faces a class-action suit from the lactose intolerant economist.com/united-states/… @TheEconomist But @GoodFoodInst says “gallon for gallon, plant-based milk prices were 87% higher than conventional milk in 2022.”
Craving a cup of coffee from Dunkin’? If you prefer non-dairy milk with yours, a class-action lawsuit claims that you will pay more for it than if you order cow’s milk. Do they have a case? econ.st/4bj0DO1 ⬇️

Last week, I got an opportunity to join Alliance Igiraneza in the field to harvest bell peppers at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (@UNLincoln), Department of @unlagrohort Agronomy and Horticulture 🇺🇸 She is currently pursuing her Master’s in Horticulture in Nebraska College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, and it was both fun and inspiring to step into her world of research and practice. Out in the field, Alliance Igiraneza shared about her work on intercropping vegetables and cut flowers to improve farm economics and enhance conservation biological control. She also focuses on improving crop productivity and reducing post-harvest losses—issues that directly impact farmers and food systems everywhere. What I loved most about the experience was how her research is not just about theory but about creating real-life solutions. Watching her connect knowledge with practice made me realize that agriculture is truly where science and soil meet. It was also a reminder that farming is not simply about planting and harvesting—it is about innovation, sustainability, and finding smarter ways to grow food in a changing world. Seeing her passion reaffirmed my own journey in agriculture, and it excites me about what lies ahead. I’m grateful for moments like these that show how students and researchers are shaping the future of food systems—one study and one harvest at a time. As I look ahead, I’m even more excited about what the University of Nebraska-Lincoln has to offer for my own Master’s degree in @UNL_BSE, which will begin next week.

When you look at the graph below ⬇️, it’s clear how damaging the GST holiday really was. It opened the door to opportunistic pricing — when retailers use temporary policy changes as cover to adjust prices in their favour, often leaving consumers worse off once the policy ends.
Other than the silly GST holiday, Canadians aren’t really getting a break. 🇨🇦 food inflation swung from -0.6% in Jan to 3.8% in Apr, while 🇺🇸 stayed steady around 2.5–3% — despite the U.S. tariff bonanza. Counter-tariffs supply chain pressures keep Canadian grocery bills volatile.

Nine stops in east central Nebraska on #pftour25. Mostly irrigated. Avg corn yield: 200 bu/acre That's down 3% from this same route last year, up 10% from 2023. Low ear counts. Avg soy pod counts: 1259 That's down 23% (!!) from last year & down 7% from 2023. Beans disappointed.

A few minutes ago, I finished reading about Africa's expanding infrastructure. It’s hard to imagine that in just a few decades, roads, railways, ports, and airports will link every corner of the continent. With over 1,200 km of the Algeria East-West Highway and 4,500 km connecting Lagos to Mombasa, Africa is on the move…..

Perhaps Fit Joy Snacks have a reply ?
What’s wrong with this ? Fit Joy snacks claim to be grain free, gmo free, soy free, gluten free, corn free but have a nasty after taste. Why? The last item on the label is an artificial sweetener .. but absent from the rest of the packing and claims .. not cool!
