So proud of my fellow @DoctorsCouncil union members fighting back and voting to authorize a strike when H H and its subcontractors are offering contracts that are unfair to them and unsafe for patients!

BREAKING: We just provided H H affiliate employers, PAGNY and Mt. Sinai, with 10 days notice of our intention to commence ULP strikes at 4 strategic hospitals: Queens, Jacobi, North Central Bronx, and South Brooklyn Health. We do not want to strike but chronic understaffing and burnout are putting us and our patients at risk. We deserve better. Our patients deserve better. We are committed to bargaining in good faith and urge our employers to do so too. We are willing to strike for our patients. #NYCDOCSTRIKE

.chaos. It’s viral season and Mayor Adams’ window to address the doctors’ work stoppage in our safety net hospitals is rapidly closing. #cc: @nypost @NYDailyNews @nytimes doctorscouncil.org/news/nyc-

As a pediatrician, I know what children need to thrive. We need elected leaders at all levels of government to prioritize children’s health! I plan to #VoteKids on Election Day, November 5th. What about you? #VoteMHEI #KidDocsVote

As a first gen with $300k in student loan debt working in the public sector, it's really disheartening. Pediatrics is a beautiful and rewarding field but the system is failing to recognize that we can't recruit if we don't show we value our pediatricians. @AmerAcadPeds @JoeBiden
Did u know your child’s doctor is paid 25% less than adult docs with the same yrs of training and debt? The way we fund care in this country is backwards, leading to a dwindling pool of med grads choosing pediatrics @bvincibmc and I propose a fix here: statnews.com/2024/04/02/too-

On this beautiful Sunday morning, I opened an email with my new student loan payment calculation. My monthly payment has doubled. As a general pediatrician in the public sector in NY, my student loan payment will now be a 1/3 of my paycheck. Something's got to give. @usedgov
A nation with too few pediatricians could see health care costs soar An important read! “Although this year’s Match featured more applicants than ever, a lower proportion of medical school grads chose one key specialty than ever before: pediatrics.” statnews.com/2024/04/02/too-

Major *oof* this morning and I’d like to unpack this: “close to 30% of pediatric residency programs did not fill their residency positions, with the total number of graduates applying to pediatrics declining by 6.1% over last year” statnews.com/2024/04/02/too-

A year later and the symptoms have worsened. One aspect contributing to my imposter syndrome is what I call a lack of eloquence in delivering my points. I admire gifted orators and really wish it was a skill I developed. I was struck by this advice on a forum.
You know what’s crazy? I’m on the alumni board and I still have full fledged impostor syndrome. I feel so uneducated when I speak up. I perseverate on my comments, “Were they well received?”, “Are they muttering internally once I unmute?”. When will it stop?

“Learn what you love so that your self-satisfaction will carry you towards the eloquence capable of impressing others.” I get so caught up on the public speaking technique that I’ve forgotten that it’s my passion that has carried me through so many discussions and opened doors.

That self-satisfaction is critical. So I’m going to heed to the message from last week’s sermon. “Notice where God placed you, not where you want to be. Honor your assignment.” I am exactly where I’m supposed to be.

Gentle reminder: You don’t have to understand people’s experiences to be kind. Kindness doesn’t require logic, it requires grace.

The myth of meritocracy is that we are all being taught under the same conditions in the same schools with the same books with the same resources to afford tutors and support when necessary.
