The worst part is him saying the strike on the elementary school in Minab (that killed 168 schoolchildren and teachers) "is a use case that doesn't even violate our red lines."
CEO of Anthropic Dario Amodei awkwardly smiles through his answer to a question about why Claude AI directly contributed to the US Military bombing of the elementary school in Minab.

The Delhi High Court's verdict in the #NewsClick case is a major setback for the BJP that misuses central agencies to suppress political dissent. The action against NewsClick and its editor, Prabir Purkayastha, was an attempt to silence critical journalism and democratic voices. This is a victory for democratic rights and press freedom over the fascist politics of the Sangh Parivar.

TMC imploded faster than we thought it would. Pretty embarrassing for anyone to have been a sincere and enthusiastic supporter of such a nonsense party.
After careful consideration, it has been decided that all committees of the All India Trinamool Congress in West Bengal, as well as all its frontal organisations, shall stand dissolved with immediate effect. The party will undertake a comprehensive exercise of introspection, performance review and organisational assessment at every level. Based on the findings of this exercise, the organisational structure of the parent body and all frontal organisations will be reconstituted and announced in due course. The party remains committed to strengthening its organisation and preparing it to meet future challenges with renewed vigour and purpose.

This is what Bolivia's highways look like at the moment. Each town & village blocks their stretch, and the union members in each community take turns at the barricades. This is part of the general strike against neoliberalism. Now entering week 3.

Here is how justice works in Trump’s Washington. The Biden Justice Department indicted Gautam Adani, one of the world’s wealthiest men, for a $265 million scheme to bribe Indian government officials and defraud American investors. The Trump Justice Department just let him walk. Last month, Adani’s lawyer, Robert Giuffra, who also happens to be one of Donald Trump's personal attorneys, walked into the Justice Department with an offer: drop the charges, and Adani will invest $10 billion in the U.S. economy. When this Administration talks about fighting fraud, what they mean is fighting fraud that doesn’t come with a check attached. This is the most corrupt administration in American history, and they are not even trying to hide it anymore. nytimes.com/2026/05/14/nyreg…

Germany is in panic over Chinese companies taking over its markets at home, abroad and in China. Having spent quite some time in China in the 2010s, I can’t help but thinking back to the arrogance and quite frankly racism of German expat businesses people. Chinese engineers with Ivy League degrees speaking fluent English and German looked down upon by German engineers with a degree from some German university, unimpressive English and less than two sentences of Chinese. The Germans didn’t see it coming because they couldn’t imagine Chinese people becoming better at what they are doing than themselves. An industry insider told me at the time how keen Chinese entrepreneurs were to collaborate with German car companies on EV development. But all the Germans worried about was they are going to steal our IP. Well, here we are.

Yet another striking illustration of just how ideologically rigid the West has become compared to what we used to be. This was the obituary The Economist published for Mao in 1976 - at the height of the Cold War. Read this part: "In the final reckoning Mao must be accepted as one of history's great achievers: for devising a peasant-centred revolutionary strategy which enabled China's Communist party to seize power, against Marx's prescriptions, from bases in the countryside; for directing the transformation of China from a feudal society wracked by war and bled by corruption, into a unified egalitarian state where nobody starves; and for reviving national pride and confidence so that China could, in Mao's words, 'stand up' among the great power." Show this text to any Economist "journalists" today - without telling them it's from their own paper - and they'd reply: surely it's "CCP propaganda" 😏 Yes, incredible as it may sound, there used to be a time when Western journalists could assess a geopolitical rival honestly and respectfully without being accused of being a traitor. And this honesty was in no small part a key factor why the West won the Cold War. Today we call honest assessment "propaganda," and we harass, smear, and blacklist people for it. And we're puzzled why the West is in steep decline. Truth matters.

We remember Comrade Puchalapalli Sundarayya on his death anniversary. Comrade Sundarayya is recognized as a builder of the Communist Party, strategist of the agrarian revolution, defender of Marxist-Leninist principles and a man closely associated with the masses. Sundarayya stepped into his role as an organizer of the Party very early, and was taken into the Central Committee of the Party, the first organized leading body of the Party which was constituted after the release of the Meerut prisoners, in 1934. He was the Secretary of the Andhra Communist Party Committee at the time of its formation and played an important role in leading the Telangana armed struggle, that paved the way for the liberation of people from the feudal yoke of the Nizam rule. He was also one of the founders of the All India Kisan Sabha and was elected as its Joint Secretary. As General Secretary of the CPI(M) from its inception in 1964 to 1976, Comrade Sundarayya played a major role in establishing the Party as a leading force in the Left movement in the country. As a Member of Parliament and state legislature, he set an example of how to take up people's issues. Comrade PS reared successive generations of cadres and inspired them by his life and example. Lal Salam Comrade PS!
