After 8 years at @o1_labs, I’ve made the personal decision to transition from CEO to advisor. This has been the journey of a lifetime, and I’m so proud of what our team, Mina, and now Ensue have become.
This decision comes from a need to rebalance personally, to be more present for my family, and recharge after an intense founding journey. My belief in our mission remains very strong.
I’m not going far! I’ll remain an active advisor to o1Labs for Mina and Ensue, meeting frequently with core teams, providing input on product strategy, exploring new use cases, and helping strengthen relationships with industry leaders.
@zkLawyer_ & @deepthiskumar8 know this company and Mina Protocol inside out. Their skill, dedication, and vision make them the right leaders to carry o1Labs forward.

When I joined o1Labs in 2018, zk was hardly being discussed.
Seven years later, the industry has caught up to what we have always believed: that the ability to verify without revealing is foundational, not optional.
Five years on mainnet is a huge milestone for Mina, and for me it’s personal. I’m still as excited and challenged by what we’re building as I was on day one. With institutional demand for privacy-preserving infrastructure surging, there’s a whole new world ahead of us.

Interestingly enough I had the exact same conversation with @zkLawyer_ how ZK proofs might be the perfect solution for the massive bureaucratic corruption in India and the huge court backlogs.
India needs to embrace technology for many of its complex societal challenges. Great to see @raghav_chadha take up these issues in the Indian parliament. Would love to discuss this more with your team !

In Parliament, I explained why India must put land & property records on BLOCKCHAIN.
Land records in India are in utter chaos. Ordinary citizens are made to run from pillar to post at registrar offices, while dalals and middlemen capture the system. Circle rates are exploited to fuel cash deals, property tax leakages continue, fake documents and encroachments multiply, and disputes over title never end.
The numbers tell the story:
• 66% of all India’s civil disputes are land disputes.
• 45% of properties lack a clear title.
• 48% are already under dispute.
• India ranks 133 out of 190 in property registration efficiency.
• Even a simple property sale can take 2 to 6 months. When disputes arise, civil courts take 7 years on average to resolve them.
• And 6.2 crore property documents are still pending digitisation.
That is why I argued in Parliament for a National Blockchain Property Register. Time stamped, tamper proof, fully transparent. It can make title verification instant, and ensure every sale, mutation and inheritance is recorded cleanly and traceably in realtime.
Countries like Sweden, Georgia and the UAE have shown what is possible. Transactions can finish in minutes, and dispute rates fall sharply.
India must move from chaos to clarity. From a land record system that creates obstacles to one that prevents them.

Contrary to popular belief, sometimes tech does matter, as it unlocks novel products that would otherwise be impossible.
Not saying this is responsible for the price movement, but all four projects build zk validiums:
- ZKsync Prividiums
- Scroll Cloak
- Mina zkApps
- Starkware StarkEx
State is managed off-chain but verified onchain, providing privacy and security.
Privacy: Validiums offer what I call "responsible" and pragmatic privacy: they provide individuals and businesses with privacy against public scrutiny, but the operator is responsible for, e.g., tracing hacks.
Security:
- Self-custody since ZK ensures the validity of state transitions
- Liveness via L1 forced inclusion

So after the crazy $ZEC run, degens out there are now pumping every random ecosystem with some kind of zk tech underneath?
Literally nothing is happening on zkSync, Mina Protocol, Scroll, Starknet, or any of the others, nor does anyone care about these chains.
It’s a pure narrative pump, just because another, completely unrelated asset performed well, and now everyone who missed that trade is desperate for the next play.
So much for “we won’t get another altseason where every shitcoin pumps and we see an obvious flight to quality amongst investors now.”
Nothing has changed lol. Just wait until we get a proper risk-on environment the next months and it’s going to feel like 2021 all over again.
