It’s still playing in my head right now, feels like a dream. My first time seeing this club win the premier league 😭😭😭
I’m not sure there is an Arsenal fan out there who did not weep tears of joy after clinching this EPL title. It’s been worth it guys. It’s been really worth it. 22 long years. I can’t quantify my happiness. Football is something else.

A client reached out to me, he was eager to discuss the project idea. I was listening to him like a moron. When he was done talking, I asked him a simple question β€œWhat’s your budget?”. He requested for mine instead and I told him it will cost around
How much would you charge for a full stack Real Estate project that lets users list properties/buy, hotel booking with payment integration etc Website Mobile app - iOS/Android Admin Dashboard . this client reached out to me few days back, scheduled a short call, sent project brief ….. I went through it, after 2/3 days I sent him a project proposal of 5 million Naira because a friend referred him and his saying the price is β€œway” too high for him… the β€œAllah” kuku off me πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ But realistically how much would you charge of a project like this ?

10k - 15k dollars. His response β€œI thought it will be around 200k naira ooo” I replied, β€œNo sir, software isn’t cheap. You want to build a website that will challenge Jumia abi? It comes with a price”. That was the end of his fascinating idea. Peace

Same way a company in Lagos told me that I will work under their watch in their apartment on the island. I have the privilege to go home weekends. It felt like I was homeless. I rejected their offer letter and appointment jeje πŸ˜‚
Nigerian Employers, especially those with diasporan experience, please nau. A few days ago, someone reached out that he wanted to set up a team in Nigeria to build out a solution. We got talking and he mentioned he had a budget of #4.5m per senior developer. This was subsequently revised to #3m per developer. Drafted the proposal that included sourcing all through handoff with a 7% commission over 3 months. This brother got back to ask whether we can revise salaries to #1.2m because in his words, "I spoke with a partner who is the Founder of Xyz, and he said 1.2m will fly for the role." This was someone who told me he wanted SENIOR Developers. I told him 1.2m won't fly and if that's his budget, he better source for them himself. But that's not the real catch. This Oga said he wanted to relocate these Senior Devs to Uyo, all expense paid for the course of 3 months. I told him that's a weird thing to pitch to a Senior. A competent senior developer should be able to work remotely. He claimed he had been burned before so he wants the Devs in person in an environment of his choosing. There and then, I called it quits. I sent our chat to a mentor and this was his reply in the screenshot belowπŸ˜‚ If you're paranoid about hiring Senior Devs, you shouldn't be in the market looking for Senior Devs. Also, please if you don't have the budget, don't come to my DM. I only work based on referrals. I don't even talk about my clients, but I value my reputation. Regardless of what's in it for me, I won't put any Dev under me in harm's way. Please let's know what we are doing ndi Employers of Labour.

The fact that your criticism has track records is sweeting me.. Good one man
This was at Goldman Sachs Recruitment Day in 2019, at Victoria Island, Lagos (similar to Shell's Recruitment Day). I didn't make the cut then because there were badder guys from UNILAG, OAU and co, who were and are witches and wizards in coding. Anyway, my team came second overall and I used sweet mouth to present our technical solution. This was Goldman Sachs o, able to assemble at least 200 bad guys within Lagos (the picture doesn't show the full hall, which is quite sizeable). But one bros who knows the local ecosystem more than oyinbo said we don't have world-class talent. Anyway, most people in this picture had sponsored flight and relocation benefits to the UK and other countries shortly after this picture was taken. However, you still have people like this within Nigeria's shores.

The issue is mostly the job descriptions and salaries. In many cases, the roles require around five years of experience, yet the pay is ridiculously low. This has nothing to do with the reasons you listed.
Did you listen to the 40 year old CEO of Moniepoint, Tosin Eniolorunda speak at the Platform yesterday? He made a statement that didn't let me sleep all night. Not as if I was entirely surprised. But it once again stirred the difficult truth for our young people. He said they had over 500 vacancies they could not fill because they struggled to find enough Nigerians qualified enough to fill those roles. Think about that for a moment. In a country where millions are looking for jobs, a company still cannot find enough qualified people to employ. We are talking about a company willing to pay millions as monthly salary for those roles. That is painful. According to him, there are several reasons for this, including: πŸ‘‰Our broken educational system, πŸ‘‰Social media distraction, πŸ‘‰The hookup lifestyle, πŸ‘‰The Yahoo lifestyle, and πŸ‘‰A creeping culture of laziness. If you are someone who pays attention you already know that this is just the simple truth. Let's start with the educational system. 80% of people gaining admission to the university today cannot pass SS1 exam let alone WAEC and JAMB. Their parents bought the results and admission for them. Now, when they get into the university, what are they being talk? Very outdated and irrelevant curriculum. Talk about social media distraction. In the last two days, I have seen many youths busy looking for videos of whoever in 3sum. You see a jobless graduate going from blog to blog, from post to post, looking for s€x tape - very unfortunate. This morning, it is Portable and the other one that all of them are talking about. Celebrity lifestyle is a serious threat to personal growth. Skits on ny@$h and bress get millions of views, while no one cares to read intellectual content. Parents now pay money for Yahoo boys to coach their children. I can go on and on to show you how true Tosin's presentation is. But let me hold on here. And honestly, this problem does not start when people become adults. It starts from childhood. It starts from teenage age. It starts from what children are exposed to. What they celebrate. What they consume daily. What they are trained to value. Many parents are preparing children only to pass exams and for fun. But the world has changed. The future will reward children who can think, create, communicate, solve problems, use technology, manage money, and build things. Yet many teenagers of secondary school age and even undergraduates today spend hours watching prank videos, endless comedy skits, gossip content, and random entertainment that adds nothing to their growth. A teenager can name 30 celebrities. He can mention all the hit songs released by Davido and Flavour. But cannot explain what an asset is. A child can spend 5 hours on a phone… But cannot confidently use a computer. A child can memorize song lyrics… But has never tried selling anything, creating anything, or solving a simple real-life problem. A 27 year old graduate knows all the comedy shows happening this year, but does not even know the event called "The Platform". Are we seeing the danger? We are raising children in the middle of the greatest information age in human history… Yet many are growing up without direction, curiosity, discipline, or valuable skills. That is why Kidpreneurship matters. Because the goal is not just to make children start businesses, but to divert the direction of their thinking. The goal is to raise children who can survive, think independently, create opportunities, and compete globally. Children who know that: β€’ Money is earned through value. β€’ Skills matter. β€’ Character matters. β€’ Discipline matters. β€’ Creativity matters. β€’ Consistency matters. Let me simplify it for parents. If you want to prepare your child for the future. Children who will not be unemployment casualties. Children who will be ready for global opportunities like the one Moniepoint advertised. Then:

They’re simply refusing to hire qualified applicants because they want skilled labor at bargain prices.
