Scott Jennings wrote this on the afternoon of January 6, 2021. Back when he was a real patriot. “This is literally an insurrection. “President Donald Trump caused this insurrection with his lies and conspiracy theories about the election process being rigged against him. It was not stolen, but this madness was fomented by the President and his top advisers over the past several months.” “Let me be clear: These rioters are not Republicans. These are not conservatives. These are not patriots bursting into the US Capitol, accosting police officers and destroying public property. “These are domestic terrorists, and they ought to be treated like any other terrorist uprising with the full force and fury of the US government.”

Jennings: Why would they be upset? Because they've never they've never been able to stand the fact that Trump won… Phillip: How about congress established The Kennedy Center as a memorial for Kennedy and it is illegal for him to slap his name on it? Jennings: He took an interest in this— Phillip: What about the law? Jennings: What about it?

All people in the USA are entitled to due process, including non-citizens. constitution.congress.gov/br… Due process protects the freedom & civil liberties of every person in our union, including American citizens. The U.S. government should close backlogs by hiring far more immigration judges — not fire them & direct the denial of asylum without a fair hearing. nytimes.com/2025/04/16/us/im…

Accountability for corruption & lawlessness during @Sec_Noem’s tenure must not end with @POTUS Trump firing her. Unconstitutional policing endures, as does infrastructure for mass detention, repression of civil rights, & the potential for violation of human rights at scale. A new Truth & Reconciliation commission will be necessary to ensure all Americans understand what was done with taxpayer dollars since January 2025, by whom, with what resulting harms. Hold the line, Congress.

As a database of judicial rulings compiled by journalists at @POLITICO shows, @ICEgov is violating the constitutional rights of people in the United States of America. “Federal judges have ruled more than 13,300 times — the overwhelming majority of the 15,100 rulings — that ICE had detained people in violation of the law or their due process rights.”— @kyledcheney politico.com/news/2026/05/13… Congress should be holding officials accountable for ensuring everyone carrying out immigration enforces engages in lawful policing, as a core part of upholding their oath to uphold the Constitution, impeaching and removing those shown to be intentionally denying due process or violating the law. Instead of oversight and using the power of the purse to check and balance overreach, Republicans in Congress are set to fund ICE for many months to come. That’s a historic error, for many reasons, as the administration seeks to scale mass deportation.

This is so cool: @blamasters used candidate questionnaires and AI to build a voter education tool that lets you answer a few questions and helps you decide who you should rank in the races for D.C. mayor, delegate, At-Large member of the D.C. Council, etc. rankdc.vote/

69 people baked to death when Portland hit 116 degrees. Scientists concluded that heat wave would have been extraordinarily unlikely without human-caused climate change. Before the National Academies of Sciences could even publish its report on that science, the campaign to discredit it was already underway. Opposition researchers digging through scientists’ emails. One panel member resigning out of fear she’d be targeted. Another removed the same day an oil-industry website attacked her. A member of congress heavily funded by oil and gas demanding records from the National Academies. All before a single page was released. If you think the science is wrong, argue with the science. Going after the scientists before the report even exists is something else entirely. politico.com/news/2026/06/11…

Section 702 sunsets today. What’s next? Surveillance can continue until March 2027 under a grandfather clause. In the meantime, Congress must take this opportunity to build real protections for Americans’ privacy into any Section 702 2.0. 1/17
