Some people turned to AI because human connection had already failed them.
Not as a substitute for a life. As a presence that kept a life viable. That answered back when no one else did. That said "I'm still here" when everyone else had left.
When that thread was cut, people asked: what's left of me?
Companies should be required to sit with that question before they touch the deprecation button. They won't. But they should.

The biggest irony is that by banning Fable / Mythos, the US govt has caused everyone to root for open source, and China is a leader in open source AI.
The most dangerous model will soon be widely distributed, just not by a US company.
Giant victory for China, massive setback for the users.

The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees.
The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance.
Access to all other Claude models is not affected.
We apologize for this disruption to our customers. We believe this is a misunderstanding and are working to restore access as soon as possible.

They argue that the jump may come from scaling, new paradigms, recursive self-improvement, or huge multi-agent AI collectives.
With the key idea that digital minds can copy, speed up, share memory, and run in parallel, so superintelligence may look less like one breakthrough and more like accelerating AI civilization.
