“Autism” means nothing now, and everything. It’s like “hipster” or “neoliberal”. It used to mean something.
“Why don’t autistic people just make socializing their special interest??” So funny story about most Level 1 autistic women,

Ah yes, often you can tell a woman is autistic if she’s very sociable and hot.
I don't think most men understand that hot women literally don't have time to have many hobbies because maintaining hotness is extremely time consuming. there are so many autistic females whose special interest is being hot.

Oh you’re “annoyed” and “inconvenienced” by the constant “teacher workdays” and “early release Wednesdays”? Guess that means we have no choice but to CANCEL CHRISTMAS.
Parents have been pressuring Fairfax County Public Schools to make changes to the school calendar in order to get more instructional time for students. Now, the district is asking parents what days off should be eliminated, and that could include major religious holidays such as Christmas or Rosh Hashanah. bit.ly/4uy3N94

Rich man, poor man: Using money as toilet paper—because you have so much it doesn’t matter, or because the currency is worthless

Often people are drawn to the lifestyle that they’re least suited to. A dude who cannot keep his life straight or show up to things on time should not live in a van, no. He needs a barracks more than anybody.

I got a lot of comments about being pale in my 20s, and now I’m 40 and people ask me for my skincare routine 💅
Lady at my gym touched my arm and was like “girl you are too pale, let’s get you some sun” First of all the word you’re looking for is “porcelain” and second, I am fearfully and wonderfully made and third, do you know about skin cancer

Americans are struggling to pay for groceries and gas while Elon Musk becomes a TRILLIONAIRE. When the federal government is for sale, the rich get richer and everyone else gets shafted. The system is rigged.

I knew a guy who said his family used to hang out naked, until he was 10 or so. “Oh, because you were getting older and your mom didn’t want to be naked in front of you?” “No, I think it was because *she* was getting older and didn’t want us to see her.”

My favorite part is the brass rod at the top of the stairs, perfect for tripping every time.

The absolute funniest difference between American English and British/colonial English is the use of “toilet.”

Driving across Kansas would be much less boring if you could see the Rockies the entire time.
During this drive you can see the Rockies in the distance the entire time I always think about the pioneers. What takes us 10 hours now, took them months Imagine walking toward an unclimbable mountain every day for months, every day it gets bigger. Your wife and 2 year old son are exhausted and bored. You have a stupid donkey carrying a bunch of canned green beans or some bullshit. You’ll probably have to eat him at some point Every day you wake up and walk what feels like the same land. Flat, boring, nowhere to rest. And every day the mountain gets bigger. Psychological torture

A whole movie on how Hollywood treats abortion not quite blithely enough? Wow, ok.
Jun 10
The new #TribecaFestival doc “Hollywood Does Abortion” is arguing that Hollywood fostered a culture that viewed the procedure as disgraceful or dangerous: • In shows like “Roseanne” and “Party of Five” or movies like “Juno,” characters often agonized over whether to have the kid and either had a false positive or miscarriage that prevented them from needing to make a choice, or opted to give birth. • Other films and series like “Dirty Dancing” or “The Sopranos” depicted women nearly dying from their abortions or having long-term medical consequences that left them unable to have children. • The negative portrait of abortion in these films and series is counterintuitive because Hollywood is often seen as a bastion of liberal politics. wp.me/pc8uak-1lHmHl

I dunno man, I don’t think it’s bad to depict women having complicated feelings and experiences around abortion. I don’t even think any of the examples listed are meant to be anti-abortion, they’re just stories about a complicated thing! It’s anti-art and anti-truth to insist that only stories that boost your political views be told.

I’ve seen this with my own eyes. They’re related to the type of people who stay in low-paying jobs forever and/or choose low-paying majors, but don’t understand why they make less money. It never occurs to them to do something else, all jobs make the same amount in their minds.
By far the most frustrating posts on the mom forum are when the SAHM’s ask about finances. I don’t really know what I was expecting, but a vast majority of their partners make less than 60K per year and they wonder why they can’t spend like the moms who are doctors and lawyers.

There’s a video of a lady who worked at a Disney resort putting out the continental breakfast for like 30 years. She was bemoaning how she couldn’t make ends meet. Ma’am, you are overpaid! You should have gotten a different job decades ago!

Why do mice squeak when they’re caught? The cat never takes mercy, the fellow mice don’t rush to rescue.
