I have always struggled with the slogan 'be kind'. I am a big advocate for kindness in healthcare. Have been reflecting that kindness is an action, not state of being. 1/

This should be on every front page… NHS activity has doubled over ten years! Try and grasp the fact that the amount of activity staff are doing for patients has more than doubled in ten years! Beds haven’t. Staff numbers haven’t. Time hasn’t. kingsfund.org.uk/projects/nh…

We've lost quite a few followers for being critical of Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak breaking the law. But NHS staff have never needed support more, so please follow and RT if you remain right behind us.

Do not trivialise our NHS by turning it into an episode of ‘Dad’s Army’. We have 100,000 NHS vacancies. The reason we have these vacancies is that successive governments have reduced NHS salaries against comparators year-on-year. (1/4)

Our new NHS Reserves programme is being rolled out across the country. Local hospitals will be able to mobilise a broad range of fully trained staff, from retired doctors to IT experts, giving the NHS additional capacity when it needs it most.

We're not asking @ExeterChiefs to change the name. "Chiefs" is not offensive in the context of it describing the "first XV" in Devon rugby. We're asking the club to rebrand away from Native American cultural appropriation & instead relate to something local (e.g. Dumnonii tribes)

While we would agree that doctors should honour their commitments to already-agreed locum shifts within the limits of contractual notice periods, doctors are not required to cover long-term or known rota gaps… 1/4 x.com/MHA_92_/status/1427338…

Our final week of thinking about Civility and kindness. Early data from our pilot project shows that our interactive virtual workshop increases awareness to 100%.
PT 1: Civility Week 4 - In late 2019/2020 we gathered data from a group of colleagues working across the acute, community and mental health teams. We asked these questions: Are you aware of the importance/impact of civility on patient care / safety?

The ‘Civility Saves Lives Campaign’ aims to increase awareness of the link between how we communicate with each other, our wellbeing, & ultimately the decisions we make, the care we provide our patients & their families. See intranet for more info and : civilitysaveslives.com

As a wellbeing team we are keen to use the next few weeks to have a chance to check in with ourselves & each other. The theme for February is civility & kindness, both in our communications & in our conversations. Civility means treating each other with courtesy and respect.
