So wait. UVB in sunlight prevents heart disease and reduces inflammation. Heart disease is the number one killer in the USA. But dermatologists are telling you to avoid the sun and take the pills. "UVB light irradiation, applied once a week for 14 weeks, leads to an increase in the action of T-regulatory cells, inhibiting inflammation. In addition, exposure reduced the production of another type of T-cell which is pro-inflammatory and thereby pro-atherogenic. Both of these effects that UVB light has will reduce the development and progression of atherosclerosis." You miss this benefit by popping D pills. UVB also improves vitamin D status while synthesizing cholesterol. "The decrease in Myocardial Infarction risk associated with raised vitamin D3 levels was observed in all seasons. These results provide support for the hypothesis that increased exposure to sunlight is protective against coronary heart disease....Accordingly, Research has demonstrated that those below the median level of serum vitamin D suffer 57% more heart attacks than those whose levels were above the median (low vitamin D levels are a surrogate for sun exposure). They also noted that the greatest number of heart attacks occurred in winter and early spring." When you only take the D pills you miss out on most of the heart health and anti-inflammatory benefits you would get producing d in your skin from sun. Your dermatologist is dangerous. Ignore. PS....if for some reason you absolutely CANT get sun, get a UVB light therapy device that will generate vitamin d through your skin. See my 4 favorite vitamin d producing uvb light machines in the first reply below.

Vitamin D3 doesn't just support bones. In a study, it helped protect telomeres, the guardians of our chromosomes. A Harvard-led trial shows how targeted supplementation can slow aging at the cellular level. Omega-3s didn’t show the same effect as vitamin D3 did. Are you getting enough? #VitaminD3 #CellularHealth Mass. Vitamin D supplements may slow biological aging. Harvard Gazette. Published May 22, 2025.

Mushrooms are the only produce item that can synthesize Vitamin D from sunlight, much like human skin. They contain a precursor called ergosterol. When exposed to UV light, they convert it into Vitamin D2. Studies show that even "store-bought" mushrooms will skyrocket in nutrient density if you just put them on a windowsill before eating them. You’re essentially "charging" your food with solar energy.

🫀Recent research from the American Heart Association (AHA) indicates that vitamin D plays a meaningful role in supporting cardiovascular health. According to AHA-referenced findings, adequate vitamin D levels are associated with reduced inflammation, improved blood vessel function, and better regulation of blood pressure. The research also links vitamin D to healthier cholesterol balance and improved insulin sensitivity, both of which are important for heart health. These combined effects suggest that vitamin D may help lower risk factors associated with heart attacks, particularly in individuals who are deficient.
