"Labeling the nearly 250,000 people currently trapped in #Gaza City & the north as “terrorists or terror supporters” by the Government of #Israel is a statement suggesting planned large-scale massacres: killing more women, children, elderly & vulnerable people unable to move out. No one has the license to kill civilians. Ongoing international crimes in Gaza cannot continue to be implicitly tolerated.  More inaction will lead to more complicity to what the UN Commission of Inquiry has already concluded is genocide. Time to act #CeasefireNow large-scale — @UNLazzarini

"Since it is a fabricated famine, it can be addressed through political will. And political will means we have to flood Gaza with assistance." @UNLazzarini tells @AlArabiya. Famine in #Gaza is man-made and preventable. UNRWA continues to urge immediate, unimpeded, and sustained aid access to save lives.

Wrapping up 4 intense days at #UNGA80: proud of how much we delivered. From securing a €400m EIB loan for Palestine’s future, to reinforcing @UNICEF & @UNRWA partnerships, advancing the Two-State Solution & AHLC, building on the NY Declaration we initiated in July. And the momentum is growing. This @UN General Assembly has been a chance to put aging, youth, and women’s empowerment at the heart of the global agenda. The EU has shown that change is possible when we act together, resulting in real impact on the ground.

“UNRWA is being forced to operate under extreme and rising pressure. In #Gaza, our staff are being killed. Our premises destroyed. And everywhere, UNRWA faces budget shortfalls – and a firehose of disinformation,” @‌antonioguterres said at #UNGA80. Member States must take immediate action. unrwa.org/newsroom/official-…

“There is a hope for the people in #Gaza that if these countries are going for recognition, that we will also redouble the effort to make a ceasefire a reality,” UNRWA’s @‌UNLazzarini tells @‌BBCJLandale on @‌BBCNews on the margins of #UNGA80. It is time to reach a diplomatic and peaceful solution to this decades-long conflict and the plight of #Palestine Refugees. #CeasefireNow

“It has been 18 months since the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruled that Israel must take all measures within its power to prevent the commission of genocide, including acting in full cooperation with the United Nations, to ensure the unhindered provision of urgently needed basic services and humanitarian assistance. The UN Commission of Inquiry has concluded in its report yesterday that: “Far from cooperating with the United Nations […] Israel responded by proscribing and excluding the principal UN agency providing aid and humanitarian assistance, UNRWA”. In finding that the State of Israel has committed genocide, the Commission stated that through: “interconnected political and politicised measures”, including the establishment of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), Israel has blocked and obstructed trusted aid agencies (including UNRWA) from bringing in essential and life-saving aid, for the purposes of bringing about “the physical destruction of the Palestinians in #Gaza through unlivable conditions of life in the Gaza Strip”. I urge all Member States to demand an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and facilitate the unfettered deployment of the United Nations’ humanitarian operations – including UNRWA’s expertise with its unparalleled aid distribution network – to reverse #famine and provide critical assistance to people in need. #CeasefireNowohchr.org/sites/default/file… — UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini

Children in #Gaza should be in classrooms, not in the rubble. For the third consecutive year, around 660,000 girls and boys are out of school. Almost all schools are damaged or destroyed. Without urgent action, the children of #Gaza risk becoming a lost generation. #ProtectEducationFromAttack

“No place is safe in #Gaza No one is safe. Nearly 700 days on, people continue to be killed & injured as the Israeli military intensifies & expands its operations. Hospitals, schools, shelters & people's homes have been bombed day in, day out. Health staff, journalists & humanitarian workers have been killed at a scale never seen in any other conflict in recent history. And as if all of this is not enough, hunger is threatening everyone in Gaza with a slow & silent death or in a death while desperately seeking food. All is happening with impunity,  to the extent that recent atrocities were referred to as "mishaps" and famine continues to be denied. Nothing justifies these massive attacks on Palestinian life & identity. Outrage is not enough. It’s time for action, courage & political will to end this hell on earth. #ceasefirenow accountability!” – UNRWA Commissioner-General @UNLazzarini

19 times. That is the number of displacements the UNRWA colleague who took this photograph has had to endure since the war in #Gaza began. Ongoing bombardments and displacement orders are forcing entire families to abandon their homes, once again, amid fear and destruction. People are hungry and exhausted. This must stop. #CeasefireNow
