The UCP's 10-step plan for turning a democracy into a dictatorship. 1. First, destroy labor unions, so people have no way to bargain for higher wages and less capacity for political organization. marketwatch.com/story/a-10-s…

Disappointing that it seems more and more likely that Danielle Smith tore up AHS into pieces to avoid getting caught up in this scandal. Imagine destroying a unified healthcare system and harming millions of patients just to avoid getting a slap on the wrist. #Corruption

physician-owned clinic operators need to be paid more for their added costs NOW! The payments operators get from doctors unfortunately isn’t keeping up to inflation. Give them incentives to make clinics provide efficient high-quality care under the new PCPCM. #yeg #ableg

Maybe they will transfer hospitals to Dynalife and then spend millions of taxpayer dollars to buy them back. 😂😂😂
Alberta premier reveals plans to transfer hospitals away from AHS to other groups like Covenant Health, saying competition and fear are incentives to improve service. #yeg #Yyc #ableg rmoutlook.com/local-news/alb…

POV: you are talking to home care nurse about letting a patient suffer because the fiscally responsible Conservative government didn’t want to pay OT. He died in pain but at least the budget will be balanced. #DifferentDaySameShit #Austerity #Cruelty

The new driveway recruitment campaign is working!
We are continuing to pull out all the stops to stabilize primary care and ensure Albertans have access to the care they need, where and when they need it. It’s a shame the NDP is referencing data from 2022. According to the CPSA, Alberta added over 500 new doctors since March 2023, 215 of these are family doctors. A recent survey from the Commonwealth Fund also showed that at 94 per cent, Alberta has the highest percentage in Canada for patient access to a regular physician or a regular clinic to receive care. We know there’s more that needs to be done to attract and retain family physicians, and the compensation model framework I announced earlier today will do just that.

Interesting data from the IMF. Canada's expected to lead advanced economies in GDP growth in 2025. #cdnpoli

He says "job creators" a few times, and how they're going to be so hard done by paying a tiny bit more in taxes. What he doesn't mention: small businesses will get three years of carbon tax rebates, and entrepreneurs get an increase in the lifetime capital gains exemption.

BREAKING: A wildfire has ignited due to a pipeline that caught on fire between Hinton and Edson. Emergency crews, including air tankers and heavy equipment, have been mobilized to contain the blaze. The affected area is home to numerous gas plants and wells, with the pipeline managed by TC Energy. This pipeline network facilitates the transportation of natural gas from Alberta and northeastern British Columbia to various domestic and international markets. Spanning 24,631 kilometers, the system interconnects with TC Energy’s Canadian Mainline and Foothills systems, as well as other pipelines operated by third parties.

Translation: “People found out that we defunded public healthcare when we came into power and now there are more sick babies as a result. Shocker. We will now make room for more sick babies. We are not committed, however, to prevent babies from getting sick in the first place.
Today I received an alarming letter related to capacity within our NICU, and I’ve asked my department and AHS to look into this. I want to reassure families that my department has confirmed there continues to be space within the NICU. And should capacity become limited we will take any action needed to care for these young infants. This reaffirms the need to expand capacity within the system, including building a stand alone Stollery, and expanding NICU capacity across the province. My priority is to make sure that the babies and their families are looked after. Thank you to the dedicated staff in our NICU, as a parent and grandmother, you are so appreciated.
