Reflecting on an incredible weekend
@ebmedgi.
Whether it was the Friday trainee session or beach office hours, it was refreshing to sit and talk in a relaxed, non-frenzied way, so different from larger conferences.
It reinforced something I believe strongly:
⭐️ Your career should not depend on one mentor. That model is fragile by design.
Strong careers are built with a mentoring network, not a vertical apprenticeship.
Think in 4 supports:
• Local coaches
• Institutional leaders
• National sponsors
• Peers
How you activate that network matters.
An elevator pitch is not a favor request.
It is an invitation to a shared mission:
past (credibility), present (working direction), future (alignment).
And avoid the common traps:
• Reaching out only when you need something
• Chasing brand names over bandwidth
• Confusing proximity with mentorship
Action: map your network and refine your pitch. Which quadrant needs attention?
