Excited to have this work published- was a surprising finding in our gender bias work that we were able to follow. So proud to be part of the @GenderEquityMed team!

Out in @JournalGIM: Our study of gender, race/ethnicity, & assessment in GME found differences in the trajectory of IM-In Training Exam (ITE) during training associated with gender and race/ethnicity. A quick review… link.springer.com/article/10…

As we head to the polls in AL today, access to health care for all Alabamians seems that it might rise to the top of the list of voter concerns. Wouldn’t know it by the commercials, mailers, and photo ops I’ve seen this Spring.
If you’ve lived in rural Alabama, you’ve probably calculated the minutes (or hours) it would take an ambulance to deliver you to a hospital. In Greene Co., that number might soon be ā€œnever.ā€

So very proud to be part of this @GenderEquityMed team, and appreciate the attention and conversation around this study.
Out now in @AcadMedJournal: We found race/ethnicity was a significant factor in faculty assessment of resident performance. Our study has generated conversation so let's review the study... bit.ly/3LzXUBD

To be clear…a physician practicing 8 half-days a week, 4hour sessions, in the outpatient clinic (32 hours) generates 64 hours worth of non-face to face. Unsustainable. No wonder our residents are hesitant to enter primary care. #AIMW22 #math

In which a long time, inspirational primary care doc outlines all the ways our health systems are not aligned with the care that we know patients want and physicians want to provide. Thanks @GIMaPreceptor - will keep agitating to get there

So my resolution lately is to Find Joy- see those moments, name them, and feel them. As us usual, Better then I ever could, @gradydoctor captures the reason why
1/ The hospital is on diversion. And is at 106% capacity. The jeopardy backup system has been exhausted. Because people keep testing positive. Oh, and the kids' school will be remote this week. For now. And the 750 emails I missed on vacation? Everyone is "looping back."

Absolutely with @Bmayzing on this. Currently working on a project to see if his (our) hunch that we call women and URiM trainees under confident more than others

ā€œNeeds more confidenceā€ is my least favorite #feedback. A Twitter rant: what are you telling people? …. It’s like telling people with anxiety to ā€œworry lessā€. A waste of time and ultimately makes people just feel bad. #meded #MedTwitter 1/X

Often it’s meant to be encouraging- as in ā€œplease share your excellent thought processā€ I think better to say THAT rather than to mistake quiet thoughtfulness for underconfidence

I’m struck by how many of these are about the team (and I ncluding the patient in that team). Even though I saw this as a student, I don’t think I realized how critical team development/growth was to everything.
