Were there heatwaves & hurricanes & floods before climate change? Yes, of course there were! And I can *assure* you--atmospheric scientists are well aware of that. But none of this negates the reality that we're seeing now--which is unfortunately not a fluke, but part of a trend.

Hurricane Milton is undergoing one of the fastest rapid intensifications ever observed in the Atlantic.
It is now a 155 mph Category 4 storm, just 2 mph shy of Category 5 status.
Not a single weather model predicted the storm would strengthen this quickly.

One of the main projects I spend my time on is my Historical Passenger Rail Map of Michigan. Recently, I've been documenting stations, mostly in southern and southeast Michigan. I've been sourcing the location of the station through old insurance maps and atlases.
