Just shipped a PR wiring push notifications into an existing comms system. 100% Ruby. Millions of lines. Dense business logic, complex deps, non-obvious behavior. I had no prior knowledge of the system, nor deep Ruby experience. A few months ago this would’ve taken days (or weeks) to fully grasp, design, and implement. Today, with AI? Under an hour. I focused on requirements and integration points — Codex handled the rest. If someone says AI “isn’t a thing”… take that with a huge grain of salt.

And I feel I should say thank you to @steipete for being an enormous inspiration for me to explore the depths of AI-driven development (though looking at what you do Peter I feel like I'm gazillion years behind!) If you're interested in AI stuff and you're not following him yet you definitely should!
Last version of Deckset that I shipped was packed with a massive amount of new features. A lot of this was possible thanks to how amazing AI and Codex is. I would never dream of being able to ship so fast (and this is just part of what I've been cooking over last 2 months) for a personal side project. If you're still holding out on the AI coding assistants - do give them a try, maybe they'll click with and your codebase! (They certainly did with mine!).

Some of you guys don’t remember how angry everyone was with iOS 8 and the flat design. Kinda feels like the same reaction

This one was quite fun to build - there's a ton of small rendering improvements baked in there (and Library view should no longer stutter!)

Here's @merowing_ at #SwiftHeroes delivering an amazing talk on work life balance 🥰 using @decksetapp for stunning slides! Did you give an amazing talk using Deckset recently? Let us know and show your slides!
Countless striking quotes in @merowing_’s talk at #SwiftHeroes24: “You can always earn more money, but you can never earn more time” “Your kid won’t remember that you got them the latest iPhone, but they’ll probably remember that you played football with them”

I’m super happy to be back at Mobile Warsaw. It’s been a long covid/kids break for me (over 4 years!) but I’m finally there! Cool to see @Dziobaczy present about JournalingSuggestions framework along with Sourcery by the one and only @merowing_.

One of the saddest days in my career - @appcode has been an invaluable IDE for me that’s far better than Xcode on so many fronts… will miss it a lot 😢
AppCode 2022.3 is released – Compatible with macOS 13 and Xcode 14.2. – Brings new Inline function refactoring. – Improves the Extract method, code completion, and analysis. – Support for injected languages. Learn more: jetbrains.com/objc/whatsnew

POV: you hear someone mention that iOS developers used to have to manually retain and release objects

Exactly this. And you can apply this to UI too - we use snapshot testing to rapidly develop interfaces without re-running the app all the time. Works with both UIKit and SwiftUI.
This thread is so spot on. Tests don’t slow you down. It may take time to learn to be good at writing them. But we all need to start somewhere
