So many people love The Hurst & enjoy the incredible views. It’s an SSSI which Cumnor Parish Council (CPC) via the Conservation Group have managed for years. All Souls want to sell it. CPC urgently need to fundraise £50k to buy it. Spread the word! @LaylaMoran @emilysmithLD
Cumnor Parish Council is fundraising to buy Cumnor Hurst, after All Souls announced the end of its lease to the Parish Council, who say the college wishes to sell on the open market which may mean loss of access to the Site of Special Scientific Interest. cumnorparishcouncil.org.uk/s…

Thames Water saw pollution incidents increase 40% in 6 months last year. They've been issued with fines, but nothing changes. We need regulation with proper teeth. That's why I support @LibDems proposal to put water companies in special measures when they miss pollution targets.

The impact on UK food production as a result of today's budget is a very real worry. More than ever before we should be investing in local production of healthy food, food security, and supporting small businesses and rural communities @LibDemsOxon @teamSVBS @libdemlocalgov
Today’s budget has been nothing short of awful for farmers and food security. Only the Lib Dems are fighting for our farming communities.

A few positives in the Budget today, but not much for local councils services... a fraction of what's needed for potholes, a fraction of what's needed for SEND, and still no long term fair funding settlement to enable councils to plan services more efficiently @LibDemsOxon
LGA Lib Dem Group Leader @joeharrispark with his initial response to the budget. “When it comes to local government it’s a case of meet the new boss, same as the old boss. Austerity remains alive and well.”

My friend Tim Farron is right - I’m deeply concerned that changes to Agricultural Property Relief will force farmers out of the business (1/2)
30 Oct 2024
The victims of the Chancellor’s Agricultural Property Relief changes will be hardworking tenant farmers. She is incentivising large landowners to enact a new clearances. She must surely have known this? We will strongly fight this disgraceful act.

This is also my top ask of the Chancellor on Weds. Local government is efficient and provides the safety net people rely on when in crisis. Saving council services makes sense for society, and the economy @WhiteHorseDC @LaylaMoran @OllyGloverLD @libdemlocalgov @LibDemsOxon
Local govt sits at the heart of our community, delivering vital services and supporting the most vulnerable. For too long they've been underfunded and overstretched. That's why Oxfordshire's Lib Dem MPs wrote to the Chancellor, urging her to prioritise local govt in the budget.

Glad to see the new boss working with @timfarron to raise the needs of rural communities in the run up to the budget. Rural busses, local food production, sewage and the the impact of short-term let's on housing supply are huge challenges for #Oxfordshire @LibDemsOxon
I've joined fellow @libdems MP in signing @timfarron's letter to the Chancellor calling for greater support for our rural communities in her #budget Vital services need to be protected for families and businesses.
