St. Cloud State has received a commitment from 4 āļø recruit Hayden Paupanekis. The 6ā4 forward out of Winnipeg, Manitoba was a 3rd round draft pick of the Montreal Canadiens in 2025 and had 37 points in 57 games with the Kelowna Rockets last season.

It seems like the first two were decided by the gold plan, and the next by expansion, and then the last by need? Which totally cheats the Sirens out who need those picks way more than expansion teams imo

The logic of this draft order isā¦ odd.
Vancouver #1 makes sense with the Gold Plan. Seattle second, makes sense. But then you randomly throw the expansion teams in (also, how was their order determined?) and then the other non-playoff teams? Why break up the non-playoff teams?

Also my running theory has been the PWHL will announce the draft order sometime after Phase 4 is done and before Phase 5 begins to base the order on expansion team "vibes". They're running out of time so not like they have much choice now.
PWHL's Phase 4 ended today and one way or another LV/Hamilton/Detroit will end up with ten players on their roster. Any players under contract to Minnesota, Montreal, NY are SAFE. DET/LV need one more each & Hamilton needs two more.
