While studies vary, research suggests that about 10% of autistic people have epilepsy and about 9% of people with epilepsy have autism.

According to a study from South Korea, people with epilepsy are twice as likely to develop Parkinson’s disease than other people.
According to the research, 21 in 10,000 people with epilepsy will develop Parkinson’s disease.

Do you have a diagnosis of epilepsy? Are you 6-35 years old? Join the LEAP-Epilepsy Study!
What are we studying?
We are studying the link between autism and epilepsy. Approximately 12.5% of autistic people will develop epilepsy. It is a major cause of early death in autistic people and profoundly impacts a person’s quality of life.
What would I need to do?
Complete an online questionnaire.
Come for 2 in-person visits at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience at King’s College London.
Participation includes an MRI, EEG, and cognitive testing.
How will I be compensated?
You will receive £90 for your participation, plus a chance to win up to £30 in addition.
Travel costs will be reimbursed. Lunch and hotel accommodation (if needed) will be provided.
