I’m not sure that I agree with all conclusions here, but the analysis of ecofascism herein is essential reading.
Today is both Christchurch and #ClimateStrike. Let's talk about how they are related. "If there were a button I could press, I would sacrifice myself without hesitating, if it meant millions of people would die." - Pentti Linkola, Finnish 'deep ecologist' CW: climate, violence

It's more like finding out that bernie was in Skull&Bones tbh. The ongoing refusal among tech to recognize that we have power now is getting ridiculous.

Which is not to say that I dislike or disrespect cDc. Those old textfiles made the world a better place. Respect for y'all's past achievements, but we don't get to sit on our laurels or avoid recognizing that we have power and a responsibility to use it justly, now.

There are at least 164 MPs who are fundamentally and irretrievably idiotic. Good to put a number on it.

The very worst thing we could do as cryptographers is convince people to move critical societal functions into opaque experimental-quality cryptographic systems they can’t understand or even argue with. And then implement those systems incorrectly.

Hey @tmobile so far this month 8 spam/scam calls (and 0 legit calls but that's on me). When are you going to give me a way to report them and what are you doing to stop this?

Indeed, in 2018 a Maxwell's Demon which extracts more work than the delta in thermodynamic free energy was experimentally demomstrated, and has since been replicated. Information must be explicitly accounted for as a source of work. journals.aps.org/prl/abstrac… phys.org/news/2018-01-effici…

We live in a world where we don’t trust software because we inspected it and it was crap. So we “fixed” it by putting all our trust into hw that we made inspection resistant so that we don’t know it is crap.
