nvidia is basically a car
I have said this before, but to those of us using AI systems to get lots of work done reliably and quickly, the people who post online about how AIs still hallucinate constantly, about how they can’t write code, etc., seem equivalent to people trying to convince you that the car you drive to work every day doesn’t exist. You tell them things like “but I drive a car. I paid money for it. I buy gasoline for it. I could not possibly be working twenty miles away from home if I didn’t have the car?” and they reply that you are imagining having a car, or that you’re lying because you work for a car company. It is as though these people live in a completely different reality.

When we go from GPT-5.0 -> GPT-5.1 -> ... -> GPT-5.5, the number incrementing goes with improvements in capabilities and token efficiency (which translates to speed gains). With GPT-5.5 our best model yet. A simple strategy that we would like to continue.

ChatGPT fast answers are fast answers from ChatGPT When instant is instant-er
What is ChatGPT Fast answer? I just got fast answer. It was instant. Like completely instant. No delay. It took definitely less than 0.5s.

Introducing GPT-Realtime-2 in the API: our most intelligent voice model yet, bringing GPT-5-class reasoning to voice agents. Voice agents are now real-time collaborators that can listen, reason, and solve complex problems as conversations unfold. Now available in the API alongside streaming models GPT-Realtime-Translate and GPT-Realtime-Whisper — a new set of audio capabilities for the next generation of voice interfaces.

You can just do things (in ChatGPT)
I've been so focused on Codex that I didn't realize ChatGPT can now directly edit files in Google Drive via the updated Google Drive connector. My assumption is Workspace Agents can do this as well, which opens a bunch of new opportunities.

Excited that we're updating the default model in ChatGPT today! 5.5 instant is a substantial improvement in intelligence, image perception, and factuality. It also updates the writing style to be a bit plainer and more straightforward. What was on your wishlist?

GPT-5.5 Instant is starting to roll out in ChatGPT. It’s a big upgrade, giving you smarter, clearer, and more personalized answers in a warmer, more natural tone. And it's also more concise, which we heard you wanted. We think you'll love chatting with it.

What has ChatGPT helped you learn? How does it fall short as a learning or teaching tool?
This helped me appreciate GPT-5.5 vs 5.4 even more. “Explain, calculus, short and sweet” I’ve been testing educational prompts side by side, and the first thing I noticed is that GPT-5.4 explains the concept correctly, but it often gives you the idea first and then makes your brain reattach the label afterward. GPT-5.5 does the opposite in a way that feels much cleaner - it gives you the label first, then attaches the concept to it immediately. “A derivative tells you how fast something is changing. An integral adds up tiny pieces.” Your brain doesn’t have to backtrack, reorganize, or remember what the explanation was referring to. It just reads fluidly, line by line, with the structure already built into the sentence. That seems small, but over an entire course of conversation of teaching concepts. I think their attention would be a lot higher with GPT 5.5.
