We’re in the midst of an ecological emergency yet the most basic of products, one of the country’s most popular washing-up liquids, plainly states that it is ‘harmful to aquatic life with long lasting effects.’ Is this okay? ⚠️🛑🚨🆘❌

"I think there's not one single kind of new surprise that comes out, it's the over-arching solidness that makes this the strongest IPCC report ever made" - Professor Arthur Petersen, University College London (UCL), speaking to the BBC. bbc.co.uk/news/science-envir…

UKGOV’s planet-saving “tip” not to rinse plates before placing in a dish washer is from a COP26 “principal partner.” Or, in other words: “fee paying sponsor.” This last-chance climate conference is a marketing opportunity? #greenwashing #wreckit

This right here is why we are against corporate sponsors. It allows them to take centre stage and steer the conversation. Perhaps we need corporate involvement if we are to achieve change in our current system, but they should be held accountable, not held up as examples.
Replying to @carltonreid
COP26 has 11 corporate sponsors: Unilever, SSE, ScottishPower, NatWest Group, National Grid, Sky, Sainsbury’s, Hitachi, Reckitt, GSK and Microsoft. All committed to reducing carbon footprint; all trying to sell stuff. gov.uk/government/news/unile…

💚 Great news of the day: after a long fight, civil society wins against the lobby of Gabriel Resources gold mining corporation. The heritage and environmental value of #RoșiaMontană are worth more than destructive mining with #cyanide.

The stunning work of corals viewed from above. Thank you @Thom_astro for these stellar shots of our coral islands in French Polynesia. Together, let’s protect coral reefs. #corals #coralreefs #nasa #polynesia
Ia or ana! 🤩🌺🌴🥥🦪🐠A flight over the French Polynesia is rare as they are so small 🏝and our orbit doesn't often take us over the area – let alone that I have time to grab the camera 📷. These wonderful islands look just as wonderful from 400 km above. flic.kr/p/2mdpWCr
