Independent reading leads to an increased volume of reading. The more one reads, the better one reads. The more one reads, the more knowledge of words and language one acquires. The more one reads, the more fluent one becomes as a reader. ncte.org/statement/independe…

How do you get elementary students to practice debate skills with a wide variety of partners quickly? Line them up, give them a provocative statement, and let them chatter!

Thanks for the suggestions!
One of my reading goals for this year was to deepen my knowledge of #graphicnovels: a genre I appreciated for the way they hooked the readers I worked with but didn't think I personally loved. I was wrong. I love graphic novels. And I can't wait to spend today diving into these.

Just like all students are capable of learning, every teacher is also capable of learning. Develop the mindset that everyone in the school is a learner, not just the students. We must test our own beliefs and practices and continue to grow and change. #edchat #FutureDriven

Even when cell phones are out of sight, they still occupy space in students’ minds.
