I'll be proposing in the coming weeks an alt to BIP-54 which does not eliminate 64 byte transactions and may also offer some other benefits to SPV clients. I'm not surprised that BIP-0054 went FINAL, but I'd like to register my dissent publicly as it seems the authors are forging along towards an imminent activation attempt. In reading the new BIP-3 process it also makes clear that moving to FINAL is a disinvitation from further collaboration or feedback, and it necessitates a different BIP. Co-Authors welcome if you want to work on this issue!
