Some things you build in weeks. Some you build over years — first in your head, then on paper, and finally into something real. Today, I'm sharing one of those things. The new @techarcinsights is live. 😊 What you'll see is the work of the last several months — long nights, rewrites, and a team that refused to settle for "good enough." But what it really represents is a vision we've carried for years: that technology research in this part of the world deserves to be sharper, more honest, and genuinely useful to the people making the big calls. So we didn't design this for everyone. We designed it for you — the CXOs, founders, and industry leaders who don't have time for noise and want insight, analysis, and data they can actually act on. Clean. Fast. Built around how decision-makers really consume intelligence. To my team — thank you. This is yours as much as it is mine. And to everyone who's followed Techarc's journey — I'd love for you to see what we've made. Take a look, visit the link below 👇 Tell me what you think. Honestly.

It was one such conference which I attended after years where the focus was more on conversation than taking pictures and recording reels. Everyone in the room was engrossed in some very thoughtful and powerful talk. Shri @PiyushGoyal in the plenary gave a very comprehensive picture of how India is shaping as a fundamentally strong and resilient economy which is attracting interest from all other economies to pursue trade and invest in India. He shared how the government has strengthened trade ties with countries having a higher per capita income which opens enormous export opportunities for Indian businesses. It was equally interesting to listen to @SriKrishnaLavu, Member of Parliament who presented a comprehensive report card on #AI in India. We need more such young leaders who can lead a tech first nation. Visionary tech leader @TVMohandasPai very rightly said that Mission AI needs to be at a pace and driven right by the top leadership considering its criticality for the country. Finally, I enjoyed being part of a great panel with Navin Bishnoi from Marvell Technology Sandeep Aurora from Microsoft Natarajan Ramamurthy from Target Vijay Seshadri from JioHotstar Astik Sinha from US-India Strategic Partnership Forum The panel brought some great perspective - India's Place in the Global AI Order. Many thanks for Smadja & Smadja for facilitating such great conversations at IGIC 2026. @ClaudeSmadja

Comparing 2025 pricing trends with 2026 so far (till May), the #smartphone pricing fundamentals have changed. While in 2025, by Dec end it almost smoothened to normal, for Jan to May 2026, it's already up ~8%. The sub ₹30,000 face the heat where prices are increasingly sharply. Flagship tiers are somewhat insulated.
From Discounting to Surging: How India’s Smartphone Pricing Flipped Between 2025 and 2026 India’s smartphone market split into two distinct pricing eras within eighteen months. Through calendar 2025, prices went nowhere; the Techarc price index fell to a trough of 94.9 in September before recovering to exactly 100 by December, leaving the average phone essentially flat (-0.1%) for the year. Then, from January 2026, prices broke sharply upward. In the first five months of 2026 alone, the average launched-in-2025 model rose 7.9%, with the index climbing from 100 to 108.2 by May. These pictures taken from #motorola edge70 pro are undoubtedly rich in colours, texture and accuracy. The camera quality of @Moto phones has improved significantly over the years. I would say one brand which has worked a lot to improve camera performance substantially. @motorolaindia @FIFAWorldCup

May 2026 brought 80 unique device launches across smartphones, laptops, smart TVs, and tablets, the most for any May in our tracker, but the growth is narrow: large-screen, locally-made televisions did most of the lifting, while phones tilted toward budget and tablets all but skipped the month. Check out all the details in our #Launchboard. Link 👇

The just launched @XiaomiIndia 17T has brought in superlative camera experiences to the segment. Pricing is honestly less than expected. But what steals the show is, there is assured buy back of 60% which works out to ₹35,999 and ₹38,999 respectively for two storage configurations. This is available if sold back within a year. This buy back is complimentary till June end after which it can be available at ₹999. I think it is a very reinforcing, reaffirming and reassuring offer from Xiaomi Technology which shows its own confidence in the product. For me, more about the segment than the product. @Xiaomi is now confident that with 17T it can be considered a premium brand unambiguously. I can't recall if there have been assured buy backs in #smartphones. Even if it may not be the first, the offer is still fab!

The @Apple Design Awards for 2026 are revealed and we have a good news for the country 🇮🇳 For the first time, we have won in the Inclusivity Category! Bijoy Thangaraj, developer of Guitar Wiz won for his very exhaustive and detailed app which is useful for a new hobbyist trying to strike a cord to professional guitarist who look up to create some magic! Before this Sandeep Ranade from Pune won for NaadSadhana in 2021. However, this is first time an Indian app wins in the inclusivity category, which means the app provides a great experience for all by reflecting a variety of backgrounds, abilities, and languages. Guitar Wiz is an impactful app for new and experienced guitarists, an all-in-one toolkit that provides spoken instructions on everything from pitch to finger placement. It supports all musicians by taking advantage of Apple technologies, including Dynamic Type, Increased Contrast, and Differentiate Without Color. I think we really need to broaden our horizons like these developers and go beyond developing aggregation platforms. We need to go deep into an idea and make more such apps which have a global appeal. More on Apple Design Awards👇

The 'where the rubber meets the road' moment for any research report is when you see the hashtag#insights live happening around you. It was such a coincidence that today, just after a day of announcing our hashtag#laptop report I walked into a premier co-working in hashtag#Gurgaon and saw lot many young and new age workforce sitting with their laptops wherever they liked - bean bags, steps, cafeteria, etc. This is where I got an immersive view of our key findings of the report. The new age laptop user wants to be 'cord-free', no LAN cable, no power cord. This is only possible when of course there is hashtag#WiFi (a given) and good battery life so that these folks could use their laptop for hours together and perhaps recharge it when they take a stroll, a break or just wrap up their day. I think @Qualcomm has really picked up this user behaviour very well and thats why its laptop processors are designed for this new generation laptop user. Read our report at the link below, in case you haven't 👇 Picture - AI generated, representational. @qualcomm_in @Snapdragon @Snapdragon_IN
