Universal patriotism is an oxymoron.
Patriotism cannot have a meaning without drawing distinction between an in-group (those that belong to the nation) and an out-group (those that do not).
The mechanism by which patriotism unites the nation is this very distinction.
Any attempt to obscure this fact is an attack on the nation and its boundaries.
