Always a pleasure listening to @timburgD discussing @fido_study His enthusiasm a driving factor in the study’s success (Worth looking at differences in definitions for febrile infants between countries - can’t be assumed research in one country is applicable to another)

🌡️ Parents need to know: After negative cultures, home care is often safer for febrile infants. Early discharge reduces risks. #ChoosingWisely #Paediatrics #EAP #InfantCare #HospitalisationofFebrileInfants eapaediatrics.eu/hospitaliza…

Replying to @fido_study
@fido_study is a practice changing study. Useful messages: - re-iterates that not all febrile babies <90 days need lumbar punctures and iv antibiotics - pro-calcitonin not better than CRP in this population - cost benefits to #NHS Exciting! 💥
Delighted to see the FIDO study in print. thelancet.com/journals/eclin… A nice break down in the thread @DFTBubbles @RCEMLearning @TheSGEM

The FIDO study can help clinician have informed conversion with parents and carers about the care of febrile infants through our findings. Also it offers cost analsysis and peformance of tailored care for instutions and policy makers when making a decision on which CDA to adopt.
