Only reasons for admission with a lower respiratory tract infection:
i) O2 requirement
ii) Evidence of insufficient hydration as assessed by a senior *failing a fluid trial is not synonymous with dehydration*
iii) Social care concerns
CXR & Antibiotic modality are irrelevant

every time I see a kid admitted 4 pneumonia because someone ordered a useless x-ray which shows perihylar consolidation and start antibiotics, I die inside &wonder if it’s all fault of decades of studies based on xray when trials did not exist yet, confunding generations of docs
