If you like being paid for your time, don’t be a farmer. Most farmers just cover their costs and don’t factor in their own long hours, which is why over 80% need an off the farm job and why we have lost nearly one million small farms in just the last 50 years. Cheap food comes at the expense of the people producing it. Not asking for sympathy, I willingly chose this life! Just sharing the reality. Every time you choose to support a small farmer, you’re helping keep small family farms in business, stewarding the land, and preserving a food system worth passing on to the next generation.

Nice find of a beautiful old study!
PUFAs are more effective at promoting tumor growth than saturated fats. Researchers administered a cancer-inducing chemical to all groups in the rat study and then examined how different dietary fats influenced tumor development. - Saturated fats alone (beef tallow or coconut oil) produced relatively low tumor development, similar to the low-fat control group. - Adding a small amount of PUFA (just 3% sunflower oil) to a diet otherwise composed of saturated fats dramatically increased tumor formation. - Rats fed a diet containing 3% sunflower oil & 17% saturated fat developed roughly twice as many tumors as rats fed either the saturated fats alone or the low-fat diet. - Increasing sunflower oil from 3% to 20% did not substantially increase tumor formation further, suggesting that relatively small amounts of PUFA were sufficient to produce most of the tumor-promoting effect. A few important notes: Much of the early research investigating the biological effects of PUFAs was conducted before the widespread adoption of the “heart-healthy vegetable oil” hypothesis and saturated fat fear mongering. Studies from the 1950s through the 1970s frequently examined the health concerns of PUFAs, including their susceptibility to oxidation and their effects on cancer development. Another important observation from this study is that relatively small amounts of PUFA were sufficient to substantially increase tumor formation. This raises an important consideration when evaluating modern studies: many “low-PUFA” comparison groups still contain meaningful amounts of polyunsaturated fats (they don’t keep PUFAs low enough). If a threshold effect exists, comparing one moderate-PUFA diet against another may underestimate the health improvements of true low PUFA diets.

This is an interesting question. 1) NEVER lump n3 together. Linolenic acid (flax) is NOT handled in the body like EPA/DHA from fish oil 2) MANY experiments in mice/rats show that EPA/DHA reduces expression of lipogenic enzymes dramatically
Every time I actually try fish for more than a couple of days, I slide closer to the Peat interpretation: all PUFA is bad, even omega-3. Just quit the salmon experiment after only 14 days. - Way worse weight loss than beef - Sunburn - General sense of food not being satisfying - Increased appetite for heavy cream - Didn't feel quite 100% much of the time ("malaise?") Maybe it's a dose-makes-the-poison thing and the correct dose is "no more than 1-2 fish meals a week?"

This is madness. We spread myths that body type is about calories-in-calories-out. Then someone has a kind of gaunt look therefore they must be doing something like anorexia. I have friends with this same look and I can assure you they eat very well! yahoo.com/entertainment/cele…

This seems as good a place as any to plug Usredoxlabs.com
Biology boils down to redox it seems. Fuck redox up and you fuck with cellular energy production

Amazing!! The next generation.
Hard core! We've got ROS theory of obesity representation at @realCSF ! So happy to see someone go through this particular learning qpathway @2ketodudes @DrEades @Peter_InNorfolk BTW the final of this slide included @fire_bottle but I missed that shot.

Whoah!! Bobcat caught on camera mid-day in the open. This is my family’s place, my nephew installed these cams. Pretty cool, we caught a bobcat in the open in the daylight with what appears to be a squirrel in mouth. This is North Country, New York.

I think you’re on to something here, Ash! It’s time that food testing left the world of corporate customers and became more accessible to consumers. Both from a convenience and cost standpoint but also from a “how to interpret this data” standpoint.
I am excited to learn about an independent third party food testing lab @test_your_food, launching soon. They won’t just test food, they will interpret and properly assess the data to help us all better understand what those results actually mean in the context of metabolic health. Food testing is certainly very important! It helps us better understand what we are buying and how food actually impacts our health, especially within the modern food system that has undergone some big shifts in production methods, and ultimately in the food we consume.

Amazing!! Congrats, Ashley!
Just wrapped up the committee hearing for our Food Freedom & Raw Milk Bill where Chelsie and I testified, advocating for small farmers and freedom of choice. If the bill receives a majority vote in committee, it will move to the House floor for a full vote, and then on to the Senate. Huge thanks to Chair BeGole @BrianB1328452 for allowing this grassroots effort to move forward and for showing support for farmers and consumers. And thank you to Representative @matthewmaddock for sponsoring the bill and leading the charge to cut red tape for small farmers and protect true food freedom.

These biomarker studies all show the same thing: in gen-pop, when linoleic acid drops and MUFA increases; you’re in trouble. This is due to high D6D/SCD1 activity, both of which are associated with a MASSIVE risk increase. This says little about diet. sciencedirect.com/science/ar…

Increased seed oils in red blood cells → decreased risk of diabetes

Friend of the lab David Gornoski appeared on Ron Paul’s show today. Pretty big deal!! Ron Paul voted against the Patriot Act, so he’s OK in my book.

With eight months left on its charter, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has ceased to exist according to the Trump Administration. Radio talk show host @DavidGornoski was at the center of the storm when @ElonMusk endorsed a role for Ron Paul in DOGE and he joins today's Liberty Report to discuss those heady early days and how the principles of DOGE will remain alive and continue to grow. Also today: the sad departure of Marjorie Taylor Greene.
