Obstetrical services in Lethbridge is currently being held together by a small number of dedicated physicians and nurses. The lack of permanent OBGYNs is leading to unsafe care for expecting mothers despite our best efforts. @AHS_media and @Alberta_UCP need to do more.

Dear Danielle Smith: I’m a Calgary OBGYN covering labour and delivery in Lethbridge today. This is a full-blown women’s health crisis and it’s about time you treat it as such. Feel free to call our unit. I’m working for 48hrs. Happy to discuss strategies #ableg

So in Lethbridge, Danielle Smith was asked how the local hospital can possibly deal with 2200 births/year with only one obstetrician. DS replied: "....(something) (something) home births."

Bold action needed: #climatechange is undermining #health in Canada, and solutions include: sustainable, climate-resilient health systems, Indigenous knowledge as a guide for policy coherence, positive & solutions-based messaging on health co-benefits of mitigation & adaptation.

Diagnosis: @LancetCountdown data-in 2019 we collected $4 billion in carbon tax revenue yet gave $2.3 billion in #FossilFuelSubsidies. 🧐 Treatment: Improve policy coherence with Indigenous approaches--consider the wellbeing of the next 7 generations 👇🏽 shorturl.at/rBLX0

Physicians and researchers in Canada and Alberta played a major role in studying and implementing evidence based treatments for #COVID. They looked at hard evidence. Conversely, there is no evidence that firing these experts en masse will help our strained health care system.

Thank you @NBulowski for capturing our @LancetCountdown brief findings: increase urban green space, redirect fossil fuel subsidies to a just energy transition & integrated climate-health adaptation strategy.
We must adapt & mitigate to save lives -- #climatechange is a health crisis. Summarised well by @courtghoward -- I'd like to highlight recommendation #2: this will save $ in the long run. We need to do the calculations that help us take action to protect health AND the economy.

Dear Lethbridge, Since I don’t know how else you’ll know, here’s a local pandemic update. This is what changed over the last weekend. After some two months of closure, our hospital has reopened the inpatient COVID unit as we are seeing a rapid increase in hospitalizations. 1/

Thread time. I’m going to lay out all of the major concerns I have with the current state of affairs. 1. Well, we are in wave 4. The wave of delta. A more transmissible and virulent virus. We are seeing a rapid rise in cases and people getting sicker, especially the unvaxxed. /1
