When I first started FreightWaves, so many logistics veterans had their doubts.
Here were some of the comments:
- a founder that had bootstrapped and sold a $600M broker said to me “brokers don’t care about economics or the news. They just want to book freight.” He was wrong, they care deeply about their market, just no one ever served this info and news to them in an interesting, high energy/high frequency way.
- an editor at a major business media outlet that has covered freight for over two decades. “Trucking rates aren’t volatile.” Was in disbelief. Still am. Think about this often.
- an editor at a major trucking publication. “Anytime we cover stories about freight rates or the economy, no one reads them.” They were just publishing someone else’s report, with no original analysis.
- pretty much everyone else “freight is boring, people do the same things they’ve always done. How can you write enough stories to keep it interesting?”. Just go to FreightWaves and see that it’s far from boring, we can’t keep up with all that’s happening and we are the best at it.
