Every year my friend @BrentBeshore hosts a remarkable gathering called @MainStSummit which gathers business leaders and investors from all over the country. I’ve had the privilege of speaking the last few years. Two years ago, I gave one of my first public talks on “Good Money” which would become my Harvard Business Review book on the subject. Last fall, my talk centered on “Good Capital”—what are the characteristics of capital partners (like venture, private equity, and real estate investors) who are dedicated to helping companies thrive; and what practices can companies and investors together introduce to encourage human flourishing in the organizations they lead. Main Street just posted the talk for the first time. It’s 15 minutes long. I’d love your thoughts on what makes for good partnership between companies and capital partners and how both can encouraging flourishing in the lives of individual human beings. youtu.be/vashGvXpkDI

If I wanted to start a new business and was great at operations I'd launch a Micro SOP Studio. No massive headcount. No custom tech stack. Just one founder, one great assistant, a bit of AI, and a repeatable system. Here’s the idea: Most founders are the bottleneck in their business. Why? Because everything lives in their head not in a system their team can use. This business solves that. I’d help agencies, consultants, and founders turn their messy workflows into clean, simple SOPs that anyone on the team can follow. No corporate fluff. No 80-page binders. Just clarity, consistency, and execution. Here’s what my assistant (Philippines or Latin America, ~$1,200/month) would handle: ✅ Organize recorded Zoom calls ✅ Format SOPs in Notion or Google Docs ✅ Create checklists, visuals, and templates ✅ Upload Loom walkthroughs ✅ Track revisions and manage the SOP library We’d also use AI ($200/month): Tools (like ChatGPT, Descript, or Claude) would help us: Draft initial SOP outlines -Summarize Loom walkthroughs -Generate checklists and templates -Refine tone and formatting But we wouldn’t hand it all to a bot. My job? -Interview the founder. -Extract what’s in their head. -Deliver it back as a system their team can actually use. The Offer: 🟡 Starter → 2 core processes, fully documented 🟠 Growth → 6 SOPs onboarding checklist team workspace 🔴 Full System → SOP hub for 3–5 roles onboarding internal training tools Bonus: Add ongoing support, updates, and licensing options for consultants. In the past, services like this were only available to big firms with massive budgets. You had to hire an ops consultant, a process specialist, a systems trainer... We're talking tens of thousands of dollars. Now? With AI a remote team the right framework, you can bring this level of clarity to small businesses affordably, efficiently, and fast. Because most people know they need SOPs. But nobody has time to make them. This business delivers calm, clarity, and traction exactly when they need it most. Someone go build it. And when you do. Document your processes. 😉 (Did I miss something here? How can I improve this idea?)

My gut says that good taste and direction will still be several years out for AI to replace But most work in the world has gotten done with neither of those things
