In moments like this, presidents can choose to calm the nation and offer grace... or to inflame divisions and pit Americans against one another. Don’t let leaders use tragedy to divide us. Don't let them attribute the evil actions of an individual to the entire group. Not only is that collectivism, it's a tool of manipulation and control. Reject it.

Am amazing example of the problem with populist epistemology here. JD Vance says if you’re going to quote the mayor of Springfield, why not have the people who say Haitians are eating cats on CNN? This is why conservatives have become so bad at finding truth. They think there’s no logical reason why you might trust the elected mayor of a city over random people posting rumors on Facebook. They accuse liberals of being radical egalitarians, but they’re the ones demonstrating what happens when you have no standards for determining truth at all. Everyone has an equal right to be believed. No wonder the right ends up falling for one hoax after another.
