After months behind bars awaiting trial, Madzibaba Veshanduko has finally been acquitted. His release is welcome, but it also raises difficult questions about pre trial detention, due process and justice delayed.

It's now organise or perish. The High court's judgement today has just spoken. We can't take the judiciary route to defend the national constitution which is on the verge of being mutilated by the few elites, rather it's time to invoke section 59 of our constitution.

If you work for a State institution tasked with protecting our national wealth, look in the mirror and tell yourself: ‘I have betrayed my country.’ But the rest of us are not innocent. Every citizen should find a mirror and admit that we have betrayed our generational mandate. How do we sleep at night knowing twenty million dollars is blown on wedding gifts, while seven million of our people lack access to clean, safe water?

As we await the reconvening of Parliament, this is not the time for distraction, fragmentation or personality contests. It is the time for focus, discipline and coordination. Across civil society, churches, legal actors and political formations, a constitutional consensus is steadily emerging. Zimbabwe’s future will not be secured by individuals acting alone, but by disciplined collective action anchored in constitutionalism. #DefendTheConstitution
