Most brands I talk to in the context of
@getplatter are looking to build Shopify stores.
@J__Cub wanted to build the future of healthcare.
We got connected a few years back, and he invited me to his place in LA for a whiteboard session to architect an ecommerce marketplace.
What I quickly realized? That conversation wasn’t about building a store. It was about creating a pillar in a trillion-dollar vision they had for
@superpower.
If you know me, you know my identity sits at the intersection of health & wellness and consumer, so I was immediately hooked.
But more than anything, it was clear that Jacob,
@maxmarchione, and
@KevinUnkrich had true founder-market fit.
I was lucky enough to become an early investor, customer, and now a proud partner helping them reimagine how healthcare should work.
Jacob wasn’t looking to build a standard Shopify storefront.
They had something far more ambitious in mind:
→ A members-only marketplace
→ Embedded directly inside their app
→ Personalized based on onboarding data and bloodwork
→ Supporting over 300 products across 50 brands
→ With fulfillment powered by affiliates, dropship, and subscriptions
No playbook.
No off-the-shelf template.
This had to feel like part of the Superpower experience and not some bolted-on shopping tab.
Here’s what we built together at Platter:
→ Shopify Multipass integration to gate the store to verified members
→ Embedded product recommendations inside the app
→ Custom CMS and metafields to power structured product data
→ Templates to handle different fulfillment types (dropship, affiliate, subscription)
→ Fast search and filters based on health goals, categories, and more
The result?
A fully gated, scalable store that looks and feels like the Superpower app.
No headless stack.
No unnecessary complexity.
Just smart architecture and fast execution.
As Jacob put it, “This has been huge for Superpower members. It makes these products more accessible, and it also opens up the ability for us to recommend them directly in the app.”
