Doing the right thing paid off for one young bicyclist in North Ridgeville. As part of the North Ridgeville Police Department's "Scoops for Safety" initiative, Officer Chasko was out recognizing children who were practicing safe riding habits, including wearing a helmet. It did not take long to find a deserving recipient. One young rider, safely biking alongside his family, received a surprise envelope containing tickets to a local Crushers game. The moment became even more memorable when the boy shared that he hopes to become a police officer when he grows up. Three Philadelphia police officers (1 Sgt, 2 officers) were shot in a heinous attack over the weekend, please keep them all in your thoughts and prayers. Thankfully all of them are expected to recover, and the Sgt involved is an absolute badass who after being shot applied a tourniquet to himself and then applied one to another officer who was shot. Community support and classic cars came together for a strong turnout at this year’s event. The Fraternal Order of Police Cherokee Lodge No. 4 held its 16th Annual Car Show at Fred Miller Park on May 9, awarding plaques to 37 vehicles, including a Top 25 selection. Event organizers noted strong participation from local entrants as well as participants from surrounding Lakeway Area counties. The first 25 entries received dash plaques and were entered into drawings for local gift cards, with additional support raised through a silent auction.
