Good meeting with @MohamedBinZayed at the G7 in Evian.
With the US-Iran agreement, it is time for Iran to end its unjustified attacks against its neighbours.
This crisis heightened the need for Europe and the Gulf to deepen their partnership.
Many opportunities lie ahead for EU-UAE relations from trade to security cooperation.
Let's take this forward at our next EU-@GCC Summit.
Excellent investigative journalism by BBC Panorama, showing Russian involvement not just in arson attacks on Starmer’s house but also in anti-immigrant, anti-Muslim attacks. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c8r2…
Donald Trump has said "all hell will rain down" if Iran ever acquires a nuclear weapon.
Speaking to reporters at the G7, the U.S. president said he pushed Iran to accept a deal which included a clause banning the country from developing a nuclear programme
Netanyahu's circle and his media mouthpieces are in a state of shock and disbelief over the emerging US-Iran deal and the Trump administration's growing fury over his policies. The president today at the G7 summit didn't hold back, asserting that the Israeli prime minister needs to be "more responsible with respect to Lebanon."
Yet the U.S. president risks nothing in confronting the Israeli prime minister at a time when American public opinion is turning against Israel. On the contrary, Netanyahu is a convenient scapegoat. Yet Bibi risks everything if there is a major falling out with the Trump administration. His relationship with Trump has been a cornerstone of his electoral appeal. Defying the Americans will play well to his hard-right base but it will alienate the wider Israeli electorate that is tiring of endless war.

“If Israel can’t do the job without killing everyone else, Syria will do the job.”
US President Donald Trump says he has suggested to Israel that Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa should deal with Lebanon’s Hezbollah.
"I just want to say His Highness is a warrior," says @POTUS in his meeting with UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
"The relationship has been outstanding...and it's an honor to be with you. We just signed a deal with Iran, and this country was a very powerful ally."
.@POTUS on Israeli military action in Lebanon: "You don't have to knock down an apartment house every time you're looking for somebody, because there are a lot of people in those apartment houses, and they're not all Hezbollah."

I once asked Henry Kissinger after a press conference what a superpower should do to avoid looking weak. ‘Don’t start a war,’ he said. He meant Vietnam, but it seems particularly relevant now.
There are 3 types of countries of the Middle East emerging from this war:
1. Those that will emerge stronger: UAE. Malleable like gold;
2. Those that need to drastically change course, basically lost: Israel and Iran. Business as usual not an option;
3. Those that will take some time to recover: most of the Gulf;
Wishing Muslims around the world, especially Britain, Jerusalem, Jordan & the UAE & everywhere else a very Happy Islamic Hijri New Year, 1448.
An event especially important to my family as this is when we, the Nuseibeh Khazraj of Medina, welcomed the Prophet Mohammed as a refugee and accepted him as leader.
And the biggest honour is the Quranic verse referring to what my ancestors did:
And [also for] those who were settled in al-Madinah and [adopted] the faith before them. They love those who emigrated to them and find not any want in their breasts of what the emigrants were given but give [them] preference over themselves, even though they are in privation. And whoever is protected from the stinginess of his soul - it is those who will be the successful
Why the US Iran deal is a regional geopolitical earthquake especially to Israel:
There is a big question, of many, that Israel needs to answer and redefine itself in the region.
The US is often being accused of being as an unreliable ally. But that’s a lie. The US is a reliable supporter if you support US, and therefore Western hegemony. This applies to everyone in Europe and almost everyone in the Middle East.
Israel can only be useful as a conduit to demonstrate you are part of the Western camp. Otherwise, Israel would be a liability. I can give examples from 1948 (which I know first hand) but also how the Lebanese SLA and the Gaza Abu Shabab militia.
What Trump has done is that he blow all this up: being a friend of Israel is not necessarily a friend of the US. This is the big geopolitical earthquake.
