Nobody teaches you that discipline feels like punishment until the results start feeling like freedom

When people are in real pain, they'll latch on to anything that offers relief, even if they know deep down that the remedy is unlikely to help them in their particular circumstances. I'm speaking, of course, about business books.

A few years ago while working a demanding full-time job, I decided to become a flight instructor. I wasn’t a professional pilot. I flew on weekends for stress relief, enjoyment, and going to the occasional college football game. With limited time and mental bandwidth, I needed an efficient system to get ready for one of the FAA’s toughest checkrides. The U.S. first-attempt pass rate was in the mid-70s when I took it and has dropped in the years since. What made the difference for me was not grinding out hours or reading handbooks over and over. It was a deliberate shift in how I prepared as a busy professional. • I embraced the FOI, not just something to get through. • I borrowed an approach from med students for digesting volumes of info. • I used active recall to cement the knowledge and my ability to teach it. The approach is repeatable. I used it for the instrument and commercial checkrides too. I wrote up the full system, the specific resources I used, and what I brought with me to the checkride: blog.gbacon.com/posts/how-i-… If you’re considering the CFI initial, what part is most intimidating or overwhelming for you?

Good morning. Today in computer science: Robert W. Floyd was born (June 8, 1936). A Turing Award winner (1978) for contributions to algorithms and program verification, his Floyd-Warshall algorithm for shortest paths and work on inductive assertions remain foundational in graph theory, compilers, and software reliability.

Тёмная ночь, только пули свистят по степи, Только ветер гудит в проводах, тускло звёзды мерцают. В тёмную ночь ты, любимая, знаю, не спишь И у детской кроватки тайком ты слезу утираешь.

It's time to recognize that prices have essentially doubled since 2019, regardless of what the CPI says. Construct an index based on actual prices without myriad adjustments and this is what it shows. Now think about your income with a 50% loss of purchasing power.
