Ontarians are being told that one political staffer was able to take over the machinery of government and override civil servants to remove land from the cherished, protected Greenbelt, increasing the value of developers’ - who are key donors to the Conservative party - property by billions of dollars. And neither the minister nor the Premier knew? Yeah, that is believable. If this was true, it would be the most remarkable failure of leadership. From a historical-futures perspective the events of 2023 dramatically fulfill the dire models of structural demographics and other methods unpopular in speculative #foresight. But man they were spot on. Give Turchin, Howe, even Spengler some credit.
