Our founder @amitegov's doctoral research at IIT Mandi asks one question. How can AI enable true devolution of power to Panchayats? As featured in The Hans India, the 73rd Amendment gave Gram Panchayats 29 subjects to govern. Three decades later, most control fewer than five. Not because the intent was wrong. Because the capability gap was never closed. Elected Pradhans without technical staff. Gram Sabhas without data. GPDPs without local intelligence. The power was constitutional. In India, April 24 is considered historic as it is observed as #National_Panchayati_Raj_Day. Every year the day is celebrated since the passing of the Constitution Act (73rdAmendment), 1992 came into force from 24 April, 1993. Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi is credited with laying the foundation of Panchayati Raj institutions in order to take democracy to the grassroots level. The concept of Panchayati Raj suggests a three-tier system of Panchayati Raj in India: Village Panchayat Panchayat Samiti Zilla Parishad Every year a National Conference is organised by the Union Ministry of Panchayati Raj on this day. I believe, the empowerment of local self-government also fosters collaboration and collective action of the society on the ground level, with a sense of belonging and shared accountability amongst communities and allied organizations. With my book 'सशक्त पंचायत : समृद्ध भारत की संकल्पना', I have tried to underline the significance of an empowered local-self government, the gaps in the modes-operandi of the current structure and also shed the light on some of the overriding causes that are making it fall short in serving the fundamental purpose of the existence of local-self government. Feeling tremendously honored and want to thank Shri Banwarilal Purohit Ji, Hon'ble Governor of Punjab & Administrator of Chandigarh at the @erdcindia Conclave 2024 at @NITTTR_CHD for giving me the opportunity to put across my idea giving support to it by inaugurating book #SashaktPanchayat on this occasion. Thereafter, we conducted our regular workshop with over 60 Gram Pradhans. We divided them into 3 Gram Sabha groups and appointed 5 memeber standing committee and 3 presidents. We asked the Gram Sabhas to note down all the issues they faced at the local level. Within an hour, Committee came up with solutions for 07 out of the 10 issues themselves. President made commitment to implement 5 solutions immediately as they didn't need fund from state government. This demonstrates the potential of regular Gram Sabhas and standing committees to address local issues effectively. If Panchayat starts solving issues that can be solved by themselves, the State government will definitely transfer the power of doing 5 Cr. annual work in 29 areas as per the 73rd amendment of the constitution of India. #EmpowerPanchayat #localgovernment #73rdAmendment Book Link⤵️ amazon.in/dp/8119032837
